Combines Red green rotary

What we've seen and heard form people who ran both is, that the red ones have quite a better sample. What I have seen in the shops is, that the red ones are a lot easier to fix concerning wear parts inside the concave. In an STS everything is welded in. In a CASE you can replace a lot of things by just unbolting them. On an STS you can't adjust the veines in the concave. All the used STS what got traded are getting fixed right now at the dealerships for 15,000 Dollar each. That tells you how they wore out.

All I can say is stay with what you know. I was not impressed with the STS the year it came out, and now hearing all the stories after a few seasons in the field, I wouldn't have one given to me. The AF has nearly 25 successful years behind it, and the CNH thing can only have a positive affect in the years to come. The next generation AF wil be better than ever, and parts and upgrades for the older models will be available for years to come.

I have not driven a STS, so take these comments with a grain of salt. From all of the info I have read on this, I would say that people are split pretty evenly between those who love them and those who hate them. Doesn't seem to be much in between stuff. The STS has the usual first year production problems that Deere seems to be doing a good job of fixing, so I wouldn't be too worried about that aspect. People seem to be more impressed with the sample from the Case, but set right the STS will hang right with it. I also would not base my decision between the two combines on the merger between Case and NH. It is now a large company and won't be going anywhere soon. Both companies have proved through past takeovers_mergers that they will stand behind past products. Now for my own thoughts, looking at cut-away pictures of both machines, I clearly like the Axial-flow design better. Much simpler, yet does a good job. My advice, test each machine for at least a day in your field with you driving. Conditions change across the country, so while comments seen on these discussion boards should be considered, do not base your decision on them.

My neighbor has a 9650 STS that he has run one season. He traded an R series Gleaner on it, and so far he is very satisfied with the STS. He says that they had to get a few bugs worked out of it at first, but he has been very pleased with the service that Deere has given him on the machine.

Well if the NEW AF that was in the southern NSW area with all the secerecy under the panels, is any thing like the NEW Generation AF that you are BlOWIN about, then all of the CIH lover's,and operator's, are still going to wonder where in the hell have all the designer's and engineer's have been when they have been doing the caculation's for the HORSEPOWER requirement's. Because someone has still left the gate open and let them out, same as our current 2388's FWD Rice machine's, not enough PONIE'S left at home, the only CIH of our's that can go like the BROCHURE'S tell us is the old 2188 with 3000 plus hour's. It may be that the CIH engineer's dont know the HP required to get these RED'S up and grunt in our southern heavy crop's and hill's. I know that the GREEN'S have the grunt. The 9650 STS could run a little faster than the 2388's because the STS had the draper fronts, and the 23's had the antiquated tin front's, all the machine's were brand new, the grain sample's were the same,as was the job on the ground, the draper's on the STS needed a fair bit of attention, the knife drive's have been a problem, and most all the wheel assemblies have been welded back on, we need a lot of green spray paint in the tool box to cover the weld's up......... Hi Bub The $15,000 is paied by the JD Company, so the JD dealers can fix the machines. You can call it warranty or getting the bugs out. Otherwise I have never written anything about STS on red lots.
