I have a Remington 750 Woodsmaster 30-06 with a slide that does not travel far enough back to pick up the next cartridge. Is there a fix for this?

I have Remington 30-06 Woodmaster also did the same thing,didn't take much for the slide to get gummy dirty and good cleaning and oiling often works fine.
