While there is bits and pieces of truth to this discussion....a lot is just rumour, misguided truths, and_or well wishes from guys who run other colors. The fact is New Holland had the CR well in the works before they were merged with CaseIH. I had seen pictures and specs of the CR combine on the drawing board, and in the field before CaseIH was even talked about. New Holland reconized the fact they had a great combine, but it needed increased capacity and creature comforts if it was ever going to be a major player in the market.....this step was taken to ENSURE New Holland would be around for a lONG time in the combine market. You may say it's not populair, but in many small grain areas...especially western Canada it's tough to find farms that DON'T run New Holland...and the new CR's and CX's are showing up on a lot of farms that never ran a New Holland product before. The CaseIH AFX8010 is built on the CR platform, not the other way around. Early talk from CNH was to discontinue the Axial-Flow, and just keep the New Holland rotary and conventional CX. But, it was soon realized that it would be unwise to give up the single red rotor....hence the AFX8010 on the common CR platform. The Genesis is in the same boat in a way. They kept the supersteer and super_megaflow hydraulics, and incorperated what they could of the "pre-merger" new Genesis onto the MX Magnum frame. Air carts...same thing....CaseIH now runs red Flexi-Coils....New Holland runs blue Flexi-Coils...and everyone else will still get grey ones. The New Holland hay line took over, and now CaseIH is putting their decals on another New Holland product....much the same as they are with the MXM series tractors and lower hp....all former New Holland iron now painted red. Major tractor exception is the TJ which is the STX Steiger painted blue, which New Holland has made big leaps in 4WD sales since the TJ arrived. New Holland combines or otherwise are not going anywhere, nor is the CaseIH lineup. What CNH are now doing is trying to increase the number of full-line New Holland dealers to grab more of the market. This will not happen overnight, nor in the first 5 years of the merger...it's a 10 +year plan to expand and stabilize. Now that blue sells the DMI and CaseIH tillage and planter line as well, they will slowly gain a good share of the market. Both CaseIH and New Holland have had their equipment lines benefit from this merger. Slowly sales are indicating this as well. Bottom line....believe what you want to, but don't scare others away from a terrific product with untrue facts and rumours. And remember, when it comes to CR combines: "somewhere out there a team of Deere engineers are scratching their heads." "If g0d isn't a Penn State fan, then why is the sky Blue and White"
