Combines Rockpicker and Dustmaker CR problems solved yetIJ

While there is bits and pieces of truth to this discussion....a lot is just rumour, misguided truths, and_or well wishes from guys who run other colors. The fact is New Holland had the CR well in the works before they were merged with CaseIH. I had seen pictures and specs of the CR combine on the drawing board, and in the field before CaseIH was even talked about. New Holland reconized the fact they had a great combine, but it needed increased capacity and creature comforts if it was ever going to be a major player in the market.....this step was taken to ENSURE New Holland would be around for a lONG time in the combine market. You may say it's not populair, but in many small grain areas...especially western Canada it's tough to find farms that DON'T run New Holland...and the new CR's and CX's are showing up on a lot of farms that never ran a New Holland product before. The CaseIH AFX8010 is built on the CR platform, not the other way around. Early talk from CNH was to discontinue the Axial-Flow, and just keep the New Holland rotary and conventional CX. But, it was soon realized that it would be unwise to give up the single red rotor....hence the AFX8010 on the common CR platform. The Genesis is in the same boat in a way. They kept the supersteer and super_megaflow hydraulics, and incorperated what they could of the "pre-merger" new Genesis onto the MX Magnum frame. Air carts...same thing....CaseIH now runs red Flexi-Coils....New Holland runs blue Flexi-Coils...and everyone else will still get grey ones. The New Holland hay line took over, and now CaseIH is putting their decals on another New Holland product....much the same as they are with the MXM series tractors and lower hp....all former New Holland iron now painted red. Major tractor exception is the TJ which is the STX Steiger painted blue, which New Holland has made big leaps in 4WD sales since the TJ arrived. New Holland combines or otherwise are not going anywhere, nor is the CaseIH lineup. What CNH are now doing is trying to increase the number of full-line New Holland dealers to grab more of the market. This will not happen overnight, nor in the first 5 years of the merger...it's a 10 +year plan to expand and stabilize. Now that blue sells the DMI and CaseIH tillage and planter line as well, they will slowly gain a good share of the market. Both CaseIH and New Holland have had their equipment lines benefit from this merger. Slowly sales are indicating this as well. Bottom line....believe what you want to, but don't scare others away from a terrific product with untrue facts and rumours. And remember, when it comes to CR combines: "somewhere out there a team of Deere engineers are scratching their heads." "If g0d isn't a Penn State fan, then why is the sky Blue and White"

Shame you where so hard on your machines DustmakerIJ Never had any of the trouble you speak of on 2 TR 70's, 3 TR 85's, 2 TR 86's and now a TR-97. Only reoccuring trouble we had on the 70's was the discharge beater belt. On the 70's and 85's the gear box on the bubble gave some trouble. The 86's hardly nothing and the 97 has had very little problems with the machine although it did lose a motorIJ Have never had a rotor drive belt on any of these machines break! Our machines have picked, Oats, Barely, Corn, Wheat and Beans. No Oats or Barley since the late 80's though. I want you to expalin to me how operating a CR is gonna change all the complex drives it uses over the TR, how it changes that ridiculous unloading auger and it's chain wrap!, how it changes the switch on the recleaning to 30 year old technonlgy from the simple system of the TR's, how the same motor in the 920 and 940 that is in the TR 99, 98 can lug that extra 10,000n's around in the mud that the lovely CR totes, where are the motor parts for the larger motors gonna come fromIJ next day air Europe! Go back and study up some more, you ain't won me over yet! JD :)))

whenever I hear about a New Holland being bashed by a deere guy I just remember about how the deere engineers were the ones that went around to the farm shows with their polaroid cameras taking pictures of everything on the New Hollands so they could try to make theirs as good.

Yes Big Truck I agree! But we can't expect Europeans to be able to make our equipment perform well cause you guys drive on the wrong side of the road!!!! Com'n, it's the 21st century, get with the program dudes! lexion...Smexion, I've heard of farmers buying them and never being able to get them to start cause they couldn't find the key switch amongst all the clutter on it!!!! Geez, talk about a tracked disaster waiting to happenIJ CR performs world wide, ehIJ Yeah it's been around in production for all of 14-15 months now, she's a keeper for sure from that timeproven design! Thanks for the chuckles!!! JD

Not sure quite what you're getting at JD, are you trying to discredit me, the CR, New Holland in general....or all three IJ I would be worried if the head of product marketing for New Holland combines has decided to pack his bags and head for the hills of Pa. because he thinks New Holland will be scratched, and CaseIH sold off. Or, if his bitterness towards something_someone in the company has caused him to pass it on to customers. My info comes from an extremely close friend high up with Flexi-Coil_New Holland and he seems to be painting a different picture of New Hollands future. Perhaps they are just attending different regional and national meetings IJIJIJ Perhaps the combine division has more access to the companies "magic ball" than the seeding division does IJIJ I do know there was some serious mis-managment after the merger, but things inside seemed to be clearing up recently. There isn't a company around in ag manufacturing that isn't_hasn't_or won't do whatever it takes to become more efficient with less cost, not even Deere is exempt from this. Cutbacks and reshaping_reorginizing always have rough transitions and "panic" phases, and New Holland will get through okay. Please don't misunderstand and think I'm a die-hard blue guy....I run nothing but CaseIH now, but after demo'ing both TJ and TG series tractors, and an upcoming CR demo scheduled...it will be very hard to go back for another dip in the red pool if the CR is as good as I've heard. I believe blue has the edge on red now in the CNH company of "AG". Have a good one.... "If g0d isn't a Penn State fan, then why is the sky Blue and White"

small cab, huhIJ Seriously people, if you have trouble staying comfortable in a TR's cab all dayIJ You may wanna check out that weight loss program Dr. Phil has developed!!!! My bro is 6'1, 230, Dad is 6'0 190 and I'm 6'1 195. I have never heard that complaint from local owners of TR'sIJ header hookups fasterIJ yep that's one complaint that I assume pushed a many a TR owner over the edge. Think I read about a program at the Betty Ford clinic that addressed this very issue! in cab adjustmentsIJ other than the seives, and I believe it's an option on the CRIJ what other's are there that the TR didn't haveIJ you know that may be part of the over weight problem so many TR's owners obviously had, they didn't have to get out of the TR's often enough to get any exercise and that's why the cab's felt so smallIJIJIJIJ JD...over and out!

Sir, you are the one who tried to discredit with your first statement of your original replyIJ The info I have on the NH and the CR's comes from several sources including the one I mentioned. Sir, we where NH dealers for over 10 years and lost out when Sperry sold to Ford. There where 3 Fords dealers within 50 miles of us. We ran the prototypes of all the TR's up till that point well in advance of their introduction into the market. Plus the headers. Still have many contacts with field reps and sales reps. My contacts are combine people for the most part as that was all we really ever sold. I'm not trying to scare anyone off of NH, just offering my opinions and info. Yet, I'll not be lead like sheep for the sake of staying in the same colored machine. The CR may be a great machineIJ But, the simplicity, the compact design and the overall uniqueness of the TR are gone. Here today we have an overly large machine, excessively heavy machine, overly complex machine and throw in the purchase price for good measureIJ Your right about the Deere guys scratching their heads thoughIJ Except, they are wondering why NH decided to jump aboard their train of thought on combinesIJIJIJIJ JD The CR is based on a TX frame BTW.

Sir, I was not trying to discredit you...and I apologize if I gave you that impression. I now understand where you are coming from, I can see why you're leaked off, and 100% agree that you shouldn't be lead around like a sheep just to stay with one color. I also have many different contacts (field reps etc),but often found my close friend to be more reliable as the info seems to be more accurate at the top. You know like I do that once I say the new CR has auto-drive to one guy on here....by the time the story gets to you it can also be solar-powered and make coffee for you !! I don't think it's possible to build a combine (or headers) now-a-days with the capacity and features that's required to be lighter than those it's replacing, which makes compaction_transportation that much more of an issue for those of us that are concerned with it. The purchase price....heart stopping, but not out of line with anything else that's a different color out there. Also (my opinion) I think many of the features that the new CR has compared to the TR are what will make the CR sell better. I really belive the TR's "uniqueness" is what scared a lot of guys away from it. Obviously from talking with other farmers, and reading posts here that those who weren't scared away from it have been singing it's praises with great performance, grain quality, and reliability. The only thing on the CR's I'm truely skeptical of is that engine. And yes....sorry I said CR platform before, I meant TX...thank you for the correction. Hopefully we are both wrong, and correct about the future of the CR's and New Holland. "If g0d isn't a Penn State fan, then why is the sky Blue and White"
