I sure like my gleaners they have good capacity, very simple to operate, and fantastic to work on. Everytime we have had the combines around the yard and a mechanic of a different color has been around they all have said that these machines would be great to work on. That being said to play the big combine game maybe something needs to change for class 8 and bigger. One of the problems I see is a-lot of people like to see change and if something hasn't been changed they think its old technolgy and move on. Take the Ford heavy trucks for example, they used to dominate a large sector of that industry but because they never had a major change done to them even though they kept upgrading drive train and other areas people began moving away from them until it was no longer economical in their minds to continue producing them. I know the truck combine comparasion is a bit of a stretch but it has some similarities. I have heard some good things about the Massey machine, but never seen one run. I am still partial to my gleaner but I hopoe if they do drop this design they sell it off so someone else can take a run at it. I also hope that if they make the Masey design as a common platform that they make everything they can as simple as possible as I still feel the gleaner is a simpler machine to service_repair than the massey. If they do make this change I for one will look more closely at other brands next time I decide to change because the design of the machine is what I like, Not saying I wouldn't buy a "massey" just saying there isn't as much difference anymore.
