Agco rep. said last week that they were going to keep the r65,75 the same. the new r85 was going to have rotor like mf. he said roughly 30% more capacity over 75.the proto was in idaho cutting barly when he rode in it.

DJP is partially right from what i was told they are starting with the class eight machine this year and making the smaller silver seeders the same as the massey next year, but i heard that a while back this fall, who knows Agco could change there mind tommorrowIJIJ lol

Thats the rumor I heard last fall. after they began to make the tractors all the same I suspected they would do the same with the combines sometime. I'm sure it would be cheaper for Agco to discontinue one design and build all their combines the same.

What kind of through put did that proto have in barleyIJ Bushels a hourIJ I think I would buy a massey (in Gleaner colors) if it had a hill side cleaning system with a fast unloading system.

Throwing away the Gleaner design is stupid. I hope they sell the design to someone and that company makes millions. Maybe they will sell to Mcormick or Buhler. NH and Case have both sold to those companys and they've taken that model and did extremly well. They might aswell not even make the R85. Plus why are they demoing it when theres allready a combine like it out there. Can't see them running it in Idaho to see if the paint performs ok. Take care, Nathan

I would hope Mcormick will take over the 2388 design or maybe even find the blueprints on that larger combine Case IH was building before New holland made them scrap it and go with the 8010 (even thou its working good now for a combine) id still like to see what they were designing.. Also Mcormick tractors would be even better if they would make a better cab Anytime i get in a cab and see funky controls and green knobs and levers like an old white tractor i just lose interest Im kinda used to the magnums and steigers.. Also i agree with the last guy why waist your time makeing the R85.

I sure like my gleaners they have good capacity, very simple to operate, and fantastic to work on. Everytime we have had the combines around the yard and a mechanic of a different color has been around they all have said that these machines would be great to work on. That being said to play the big combine game maybe something needs to change for class 8 and bigger. One of the problems I see is a-lot of people like to see change and if something hasn't been changed they think its old technolgy and move on. Take the Ford heavy trucks for example, they used to dominate a large sector of that industry but because they never had a major change done to them even though they kept upgrading drive train and other areas people began moving away from them until it was no longer economical in their minds to continue producing them. I know the truck combine comparasion is a bit of a stretch but it has some similarities. I have heard some good things about the Massey machine, but never seen one run. I am still partial to my gleaner but I hopoe if they do drop this design they sell it off so someone else can take a run at it. I also hope that if they make the Masey design as a common platform that they make everything they can as simple as possible as I still feel the gleaner is a simpler machine to service_repair than the massey. If they do make this change I for one will look more closely at other brands next time I decide to change because the design of the machine is what I like, Not saying I wouldn't buy a "massey" just saying there isn't as much difference anymore.
