last time I heard of that happening here they had a bearing going down and sparking. I know I'll stir up a hornet's nest but (in my opinion) the chain dragging thing is about an "old wives" tale or whatever. Please, if it works for you then keep doing it. I've personally done it and could not tell that it helped anything. Over on "the other site" someone actually did some research on it. You can research that for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

Drag a chain and that is one chance less of static electricity 'firing up' I have seen chick pea dust accumulated on ledges smoulder and drop off on the ground - luckily in chick peas there is not much to burn! Strange thing is that with two machines of the same make in the same paddock one can need dust blowing off every hour or so, and the other can go all day with no problems. Explain that.
