Combines sts in rice

I'll be real interested if anyone has use STS in rice alsoIJIJIJ

My understanding was Deere was sticking with the CTS in rice.

I HAVE USED THE 9750STS IN RICE lAST TWO YEARS.THIS YEAR HAD NEW PARTS IN IT JUST FOR RICE WIll GO BETTER THAN CTS.WE COUlD GO 3.3 WITH CTS IN 160bu RICE AT 16%.WITH 9750 4 MPH WITH ABOUT SAME lOSS.WE HOPE TO GET ONE IN A YEAR.

How much will this hurt the resale of CTS in the long

A factory rep rode with me most all day back on June 13. I asked him about the rice and an STS. He said thay had 10 machines running in Arkansas and Texas with experimental "stuff" for rice. He would not tell me what those things were. He said the STS did not perform like they wanted it to in rice and they would have updates to the new machines. I don't remember his name. He was called to come out to look at the lack of horse power in the STS.

Hilly, In April my neighbour (who runs a case 2388) got in a contractor with a 9750 STS ,to help him with his down rice. He also had his brother in-law running a new TX 68 along side these two machines. He had high hopes that the JD would speed up the process, but this was not to be...One twisted rotor and a lot of swearing were sufficient to prove this. The 2388 was getting blocked between 5 and 12 times a day, you may think this was a joke, but he will assure you otherwise. They found that the TX 68 out consistently outperformed the other 2 machines in the down stuff, but it wasn't at record pace.(No bias as i own a Case 1688). In the semi-standing crop before the rotor twisted, the 9750 was a little better than the 2388 and the TX. I'll leave it up to you to decide, but you have to remember that all machines do it tough when the rice is flat on the ground, and at the moment, there is no one machine miles ahead of the rest. Oh, and the contractor ( who has been running JD's for the last 15 years) said that he'd like to burn his new investment, except it won't burn cause its green!!

hilly, the CTS remains in the Deere offering for a good reason. It is the best Rice Combine on the market. The STS with the rice configuration will come close to the CTS, but not be better in the long run in rice only. The benefit of the STS rice configuration is that it is ok in rice but much better than the CTS in soy beans. All depends on your crop mix. Good luck.

The CTS will be dead if the STS doesn't fall on it's face in rice. I've had a Deere rep tell me that they can't afford to produce three seperate combine lines. We'll have to wait and see how the STS does this fall in the rice.

We are just completing the rice harvest here in Aus. We have been running new 9650CTS's and also 2388's. Will have been filling the CTS grain tank (and note they are bigger than the 2388s) 2-3 times faster than the 2388 in down rice. We have heard of people running 9750sts's in rice, and basically they have the same problem as 2388's. They are simply hopeless in down rice. The single rotor concept does not work well in slightly damp conditions (i.e. down rice can often be damper than standing rice. Don't get me wrong we own STS's and they are fantastic in cereals such as wheat. The 2388's are also a great cereal header. We have 4 new 9650CTS headers which have been fantastic in rice. We ran a couple along our 9750STS and 9650STS's in last wheat harvest as well. We found it hard to really see any difference between the CTS and STS's. www.contraharvest.com.au.
