The theoretical aspect of farming

There is a theoretical aspect to farming, and then there is the practical side. Some farmers embark on the former then apply it to the farm when they have acquired enough knowledge. Others prefer the simultaneous approach, while other farmers opt to handle only the practical aspect. What is your preference?

I only experiment, doing the theoretical, when I feel like "going outside the box". Practical is the most profitable, but theoretical can be fun too.

In theory, everything seems doable. It is only when a farmer explores the practical side that they can know what works for them. I always prefer to consult professionals or the local extension office when in doubt.
