we are located in the US we make the summer run from mid texas north to the Canadian border. last year we had 36' Macdons they ran great with little breakdowns no knife drive trouble. we were unhappy with feeding next year we will run 30' honeybee hds.

Silver, I'm curious as to why, if you are going with 30 ft heads, you don't go with the Gleaner auger headerIJ

I was never happy with any of the agco auger hds. they always gave mechanical trouble(75% of our downtime) and didnt feed good enough to satisfy us. with the 36' draper hds we averaged 26acres_hr_machine in 25to35 bu wheat we never did that with auger hds. we did have feeding trouble with them in 45+bu wheat with heavy straw. the 30' hds we traded for are honeybee and have a different center feeding syste we think will do better in heavy straw. we also are doing soybeans with the new 30' hds. we think our wear componants last longer and we do a little better on fuel with the draper hdr.

Why are you going from 36 foot to 30 footIJ Won't you lose 15-20 percent capacity. Have you ever ran a big auger Gleaner header and if you did how do they compare in feeding the crop evenlyIJ I would think a draper head would have a lot of maintenanceIJ I know gleaner heads can have there share of maintenance. Which has lessIJ

we think the shorter hdr being centered on the feeder house will feed better even at higher speed also we can cut soybeans with the 30" header. yes we have ran the big auger hdr. but there is no comparison in the capacity differance with the draper. we like the floatation the draper hdr has once you run it you will never go back. we ran our old hdrs over 1000 hrs and had very little problems a lot less than with the auger. macdon and honeybee build a very good product

JD had trouble with their reverser gear box. They put a oil cooler on which according to my local dealer solved the problem.The sevice manager told me the gear boxs got so hot you couldn't hold your hand them.
