I have to agree with you, John Deere is doing the same in Canada. They think the brand name and colour will sell the machine without a demonstration and their loyal customers won't even consider another brand. We have been a loyal customer for years with John Deere but now realize that the people buying shares are more important then the ones buying the actual product these days. Just remember that record profits each fiscal quarter is all John Deere cares about.

I have to agree with you also. Our local Deere dealer pulled the same attitude on me as well. The salesman so much as called me a "nut-case" for EVEN THINKING of trading a Deere in on a Gleaner, but I did anyway. I'm not happy with my C62, so I arranged to sell it privately and contemplated buying another Deere, only to have the same salesman tell me that, unless I would commit to buying, he didn't really feel like going through All THE WORK of pricing-out another combine. I run 2 combines at all times, and I deal one 4 year-old machine every 2 years, so I'm not the smallest customer they have.

Wait a minute guys, what if john deere has something in the works. If they would have unvailed it prematurly, and it failed simply due to the fact that it was not ready, then what would you be sayingIJ "You dont get a second chance at a first impresion". Besides, john deere is a global company. You have to admit, right now the american ag economy is'nt exactly booming. The stuff going on over seas has to be of great interest to all companies on wall street. As for your local dealers, well, we have the same problem out here with both our green and red dealers. They know they have us by the b@lls and they're not afraid to push things a bit. Wall street and the feds have been setting us up for this for a long time. If we dont take care of it soon, we're going to be in a lot worse hurt coming up.

End Quote: It does not matter Old Pokey. If they are close to unveiling something then they would have the ads flowing currently with small hints of pics of pieces of it here and there like they always do. There is no talk on the web about anything new and nothing stays hidden from the net. There's always somebody telling tidbits when there is a buzz of whisper of a new product. Not to mention, that does not prevent them from showing off what they have currently. If I was interested in a new combine today and decided HHD's was where I was going to base my decision. I'd opted for any other color than green based simply off of thier lack of involvment. That tells me they know they are outdone by the competition and they have same as given up. least, that's the message they sent me. Quote: "Besides, john deere is a global company. " End quote: What in the heck do you think agco isIJ They are the largest global company. What about CNHIJ That is a lame and poor excuse on JD's behalf. Quote: You have to admit, right now the american ag economy is'nt exactly booming. End Quote: That is regional and territorial. An untrue statement. Quote: "The stuff going on over seas has to be of great interest to all companies on wall street. " End Quote: What does that have to do with HHD'sIJ They better not forget who butters thier bread in the united states and Nebraska farmers are far from hard up. Quote: "As for your local dealers, well, we have the same problem out here with both our green and red dealers. They know they have us by the b@lls and they're not afraid to push things a bit." End quote: It isn't the dealers that is the problem. It is the mother company that has an attitude of supremecy. Quote: "Wall street and the feds have been setting us up for this for a long time. If we dont take care of it soon, we're going to be in a lot worse hurt coming up. " End Quote: I hear of alot of conspiracy theories and I suppose your just as entitled as the next guy but don't be ruining the content of my original post replying with smack like this. It doesn't fit the subject, it is at best a guess with no proof, and I'm still waiting for John Deere to send me an email explaining thier actions for lack of involvement and sending the general message they don't have anything to prove. I am a colorblind operation. I do have preferences and they are to the almighty dollar. I will defend a company in an argument if I know better. At this point the only defending I can do for deere was "They showed up". That's about it.

YOu guys all have to remember two things. 1.) Those wall street people keep this company John Deere. Not AGCO-Dueutz-Allis-Massey-Gleaner-Hesston-New Idea-Gehl-White-Sunflower-Cat-Claas-Challenger-Glencoe-Ag-Chem-Whatever next or Fiat-Tennaco-Case-Ford-International-New Holland-and the next suiter. It's like their slogan says: "Solid, Stable, Still John Deere." I used to fight it with every other color, but I realized in the long run it's the way to go, so I just got over it, and I couldn't be any happier. 2.) Those record profits mean they're busy. I know they're busy. I've been on factory tours. I've seen the pics of tractors going on overseas. I know that most of the factories are at or above capacity. My neighbor's combine was loaded on the Dealer's truck on a SATURDAY. And the profits aren't because they've taken a bigger than normal price increase. If you're making a business decision on a $200K combine based on a company not doing "enough" to please you at a time-consuming machinery expo like HHD, you're not doing a very good job of managing your business. You know, Deere's reputation as being the best in technology, parts, service, dealer network, etc. does carry big weight. I know it does in our area of the world. Think about it. It's all those other companies have. They have to go above and beyond at those shows. It's the only chance they have. I have another neighbor that used to own the IH dealer in my home town (it's now long gone),but when the Farm Progress Show came around, IH would bring the combines in their shop and put washers in the seives to help keep corn in the combine (which always made me wonder why they didn't just do this if it worked better). Now, which would you rather have...the truth or a company that does that Sh(n. That's why making a decision at a farm show alone is a JOKE!!!

I wouldn't use HHD's alone to make the decision. I would use it as a major decision maker though. Where else can you take every color, put them in the same field, and walk behind and watch the output and take into notice the speed and heads they are running and not make an intelligent decisionIJ What are you going to base your final decisions onIJ NeighborsIJ Not many going to admit they bought a half million dollar pile of junk...........if that is the case. literatureIJ They only tell what they want you to know. That's butt wipe at best. Your first paragraph. So you are telling me that wall street is the only thing that keeps John DeereIJ Not the sales of equipment, parts, or servicesIJ If they are so "Still stable, still John Deere" then you want to tell me who was mocoIJ How come bobardiar makes their "new" 4 wheelers for themIJ A fellow listed it on another ag talk site recently and I wished I had copied it down. Deere isn't solely deere anymore. They have absorbed other companies and put the deere name on thier equipment. Unlike Agco, where they left the names on the divisions.....but is still owned by agco. Case and Point: Spra-coupe is an agco owned company. Still says Spra-coupe on the machine and literature. All it says on that bombardiar 4 wheeler is John Deere. Still deere....Bah, You sir, live in a fantasy world. Paragraph 2: Their busy alright. The 5 dozen tan shirt white cap wearing john deere guys were so busy talking to each other and making sure that tent didn't go anywhere by standing all around it we're real busy. Get an attitude of expecting equipment that will sell it'self will hurt you more than you expect but what would I know, I'm just a farmer that expected to see john deere not back down at a competition and was I ever wrong. The facts are they did not compete to thier potential and anyone with half an ounce of brains knows if your going to commit to a show and there is competition going on, if you expect to win over any people sitting on the fence of what to do you don't show up with your smallest combine and smallest header and never talk to any potential customers unless they "bother" you while gaurding your tent. I'm one person. But I'm on here harping. Give me time. I'll bet theres more than the 3 that responded that feel like us. Paragraph 3: You use HHD's as a tool to help in the decision process as I told above. If you don't use it to your advantage THAT means "you're not doing a very good job of managing your business.". Paragraph 4: I know deere as a company that uses alot of other's ideas and changes them a little bit so not to get into a copyright infringement. They got away with it in the court dispute with cat but they paid Kinze Royalties for a long time. I would say it is more than safe to say they havn't had the 8010 and 580R in thier possession long enough to look through and base the next green and yellow fiberglass sided crop eater with both of the companies ideas in it. That's the only thing I KNOW about Deeres reputation. The rest is spam after this years HHD. No demonstration........no proof far as I'm concerned. Paragraph 5: Golf balls in a cylinder to beat out the dust to offset the imbalance that cause the combine to shake terrible. They did it once, they'd do it again. No machine ever goes to that show without some tweaking one way or another. As I said already. Basing the decision off that show is not the main directive here. Using it as a part of several things and HHD being one of the bigger one's to base the decision is what it was about

I feel sorry for the gentlemen that have to work at the tents at field expos . I would have to assume that it would be mentally draining talking to thousands of morons all day long when maybe only one in 500 is actually going to buy a combine. I know its disheartning when you walk into the tents and they do not fawn all over you but ,once you come to the realazation that you ( like I ) are insignificant I think your life will improve by leaps and bounds. I would find it hard to believe that if you approached a john deere rep that they would not answer your questions. Are you saying thats what happenedIJ
