Combines tractors

The 8870 is a phenomenal tractor. I can't say enough good things about the Genesis tractors. I am not really aware of any major changes in the tractor over the years until now when the A series Genesis are starting to be produced. Some minor changes along the years were manifold preheater rather than ether as a cold start aid, batteries like the TR combines have rather than automotive style clamps, cosmetic changes to the sidewinder console, different couplers ond dust caps on the remote hydraulic valve. I have worked on numerous of these tractors and I can honestly say that you would not be dissapointed if you purchased this tractor. The biggest job that I have had to do to a Genesis is front crankshaft seal. I tell you this so you know how reliable they really are. The supersteer axle doesn't give any trouble either as long as it is greased regularily. The horsepower rating on these tractors are almost always underrated, especially the older ones. It wouldn't be uncommon for an 8870 to be putting out 215 - 225HP.

You can see the 70A series on the UK site http:__www.newholland.com_uk_70.htm I don't know why but the 70_G series offered in europe has more horsepower. 8670 = 170 hp 8770 = 190 hp 8870 = 210 hp 8970 = 240 hp Most 8970 in denmark is rated around 300 hp

Boy that's scary. Did you pull and dump PS filter and hydralic filter to look for junkIJ You best pull screen for rear housing and screen for power shift to get more clues. Are you sure you pulled plug for power shiftIJ I would sure hate to keep running without knowing what is wrong. Not like the old days when things were a bunch cheaper. I don't remember ever failing anything in area behind power shift dealing with ground drive and only one failure in power shift when out of warrentee. Rebuilding power shift is possible if not totally destroyed. There are rebuilts available along with some parts in A1 used condition. I believe it is allis chalmers.com that has a chat site but believe it is mostly talk on very very old stuff but give it a try.

Had a MX255 on rent this summer for 200+ hours, very comfortable tractor to operate. Only complaint is the windows are a pain to clean on the outside. I never did figure out the best way to get on the tractor with a squeegee and bucket. Pulls hard, lots of power. Simple to operate.

MX and TG have the same cab, although control layout is different. TG has supersteer available, but MX will still turn shorter, especially with duals on the front. If you are under high draft loads, would definately consider the suspended axle. Goes a long way to control power hop. My MX is extremely sensitive to tire pressure to control power hop. Don't know about JD.

Case Farmer don't be giving this guy a bias comment now,Deere 8020 series cab and controls are just as good or better than the RED tractors, have you ever even driven a Deere 8520IJIJIJ I've driven the overpriced Deere 8520 and the Case MX285, so I beleive both are good but Deere is more simpler to operate in my opinion.

I'd go with Cat challenger. MT 765, just check the 3 pt cyclinder diameter. Its 3 times the size of a case or john deere with the same hp. Use 16 row 3 pt planter with 3 bu boxes with no assist wheel. Same with orthman cultivator. Pulling power is unbelievable. Have owned and own most colors, but this one is by far the best, not even close. Hey, what do I know, but its my 2 cents!
