Yeah as far as resale goes, Deere holds better... I've run RED and GREEN....both are good machines.

Yeah ive ran both neighbor has both he prefers the red one and the controls are all mounted better in the red your right im one sided but i'll also give credit if an idea or a layout is better than another From all the tractors ive sat in... Case. Challenger_agco....(both have some dorky stuff in cab deere and after that laugh's..... everything else is weak

the new challangers are nothing but an orange tractor, i would stay with the ag dealers. at least around me the cat dealers do not care as much for ag than industrial.

Just go drive a new DT Agco. Then tell me there is a smother driving tractor on the market.You will never feel it shift. It has no clutches.Go from 27 mph down the road to 5mph backwards and never spill the coffee in your hand. Just test one out. IG

try the agco_challenger if you like. For us we have driven the last of our orange ones until they prove reliability. Our dealer was great. Even the company warranted thinks well after warranty expired. but we bought them to use not repairJust always some little thing to cause down time. whether it was a agco 9675 agcostar 8425, gleaner 62s or 72s. We still have an old 7080 at235hp forever and just traded a 4w305 at 360hp forever on a stx 325. I would take the old tractors any day for reliability. Oh yes the 8425 was the newest tractor we ever traded at 1400 hrs for a 9390 and love the reliability of red. have a magnum 7140 at 245 hp with over 5000 hr with reliability

guys really need your info on 8020 series but it really doesn't matter now i am going with the 8420 but i want to know more about what i am getting into. thanks for any info

Just red the JD post that you went wit hthe 8420. I had to laugh that you responded to your own post and no one else did on that site. Don't come to red side when you have a question about it or better yet hope you don't have a question about it cause it looks like you'll be waiting awhile for an answer from the green guys. not tring to be mean or get anything started opinions are like but holes everybody has one. Well it is true i have already made my decision and i am going with the jd because we have had some bad comments about the mx and tg from the case and newholland mechanics sorry but we also see alot of ih cotton pickers parked in the field broke down and no one to fix them or because they just dont hold up ih better step up on the cotton pickers or they might as well get out of the cotton picker market. John Deere is taking over our area tractors, cotton pickers, combines, and sprayers. i dont know how the mx is where you guys are but friend of mine had one for one year and sent it to shop numerous times and got a replacement tractor mx 285 and transmision went out in the field had to pull it out of the field and he traded for 8420 and since then has bought another 8420 and also has 8520 he said he is very satisified with the jd performance.

Great choice! We own an 8410, and have nothing but good things to say about it, plenty of power and the transmission is real smooth and the hydraulics are best in its class. It is also very easy to operate with all the controls right at your fingertips. Another great thing is that if you want to upgrade in a few years, they have great resale. What jobs do you plan on doing with your 8420IJ If its gonna be a tillage tractor I would make sure it has big tires, at least 20.8, get more power to the ground with less compaction. Also, ballasting and low tire pressure really helped bring the power out of our 8410. Just my 2 cents
