Those things are heavy feeders I know, but I don't know why. Anybody here know? It's kind of a pain knowing that one grow is taking more out of the soil than the others.

You can harvest your cabbage more than once though, if you leave a few lower leaves behind you'll be rewarded with some, uh, well my wife calls them baby cabbages and I don't know the technical term, so we'll go with that. Each cabbage head that you harvest should net you four to six baby cabbages. It usually adds up to provide the same amount of food as the original cabbage head. I like them better actually. They're more tender.

My lady does that, and at first I didn't know what she was doing. ?
But the heavy feeding might have something to do with how long it takes to mature. A good 5-10-5 mixture and/or aged manure and heavy watering should do just fine.
