If any of you were on the '96 wheat run through central, well most of Kansas for that matter, will know that a Conventional will eat right through them. I ran a '91 9600 with no special modifications on it and could run circles around case combines. The weeds were horrible!!! It also seemed to go through better when the weeds were not sprayed with a pre-harvest application of round-up. On a good hot day, 95 degrees+, the green weeds would streak through the machine, whereas the weeds that were sprayed came through in chunks and made for a much worse sample. We cut stuff that was so bad that in one field we had to open the return elevator door in the worst parts just to get a sample that didn't resemble ensilage. I have never seen such a mess in my life as I saw that summer. The farmers didn't spray for weeds that year because it looked as if it was going to dry up and only be a 15 to 20 bu_acre year. After leaving KS that summer we had to take pressure washers to clean the sieves and walkers off. The harvest track was completely useless because the gum was about 1_2 inch thick covering the surface. But, JD came in that year and harvest was successful. I have pictures somewhere of what it looked liked from the cab of the combine if I ever get them scanned I would gladly send them along. Kinetic
