Guys around here run 750 no-tills right through standing stalks usually at an angle with what looks like great results.

Dont disk it! leave those stalks anchored! You will plug your drill if you do! Well you may find you have a couple as the day progresses, but nothing like if you disked it first! For me it helps to stare at the drill all day, I have no plugs that way. As soon as I turn around and pay attention to something else..... Make sure any dew or wettness of the stalks is gone for the day before you start it will help the drill go through it.

A lot of corn ground around here gets planted to wheat. My experience is disced corn stalks want to bulldoze in front of double disc drills if the conditions are wrong. Plenty of people do work corn ground but do it repeatedly and for very little gain. It does make things look prettier for awhile with no standing stalks or volunteer corn. I used a 750 drill this year no-till with excellent results.

depending on conditions like this year and years past when it is dry enough i disc and use the old ih510 grain drill and go slow and sow it i n this year i disced it three times and sowed it in last year i disced them once and used a notill drill at the last minute in mid november great plains drill set the notills shallow and the openers deep turned out pretty good as long as the wheat is germinated before it goes dormant it will be okay wheat mainly grows and makes its best production in the spring dairyfarmer

We've tried it many differant ways. This year we actually plowed the stalks under and went with bare ground. We did this because of the risk of vomitoxin caused by the stalks left on the top.
