Allis Chalmers was way farther ahead of everybody else. Some innovations:load sensing hydraulics on 7000 series tractors, took JD 10yrs. to figure out that was a good idea.Developed 1st power shift trans (6 speed) in 1945 and was patented. Rubber tires was an AC first. Turbocharger.Reversable PTO shaft. No till.20 inch row corn heads in the late 60s.AND ON AND ON AND ON!!! AC had big plans right up till the end, they made 4 8095 prototypes in 1984 that had 673in Komatsu diesel that made 200pto hp scheduled for 86, they said it was a locomotive without rails.18sp.powershift trans for 4w305 and all 8000 series. Farm equipment was a side buiseness early on they built everything, they still have the record the most powerful diesel to date somthing around 53,000 hp built in early 80's for container ships its in the guiness book of records althogh they dont get credit for building it.It is a shame that a company that has done so much for the country just fold up and disappear so fast. The government should have bailed them out like they did chrysler. sorry for the history lesson fella's just typing what i think!

Yea I know right were you are ,we use to go to Charelston all the time to the races. Went right through Westfield. So where do you guys buy your Massey equipment fromIJ Probably John Craig at Chrisman. Real nice guy. I bought a used tractor off him one time about 7 or 8 years ago ,but you wouldnt think so becasue it was an 8550 allis 4wd.The guy that had it was named McCollog or something like that he lived down in your area I think. I live about 25 miles south of Casey Husinga owns the elevator in my town I'm sure you know of them. How do you like this snowIJ Catch you later, John Ferguson

yeah we buy from chrisman he is a very nice guy. we have an 8570MF combine from him, a GP drill, a 4840 MF 4wd, and a glenco 25ft finisher from him. don't know much bout them 4wds. instead of husinga around here we have a guy named jerry forsyth who is buying all of the ground available that he can get his hands on. but for him it is a sideline company he has a generator business that make him MIllIONS THE FARM IS JUST A TAX WRITE OFF, so he is hurting people like me that are trying to make a living in farming trying to ge in with my dad nad uncle but don't look very good with him buying all of the ground up. we all know of husinga. snow ain't bad i guess schools out though so that is good other than that gotta go blade snow tomorrow. allen
