If we could move the BIllions of Chinese and all the other 'ese's up the food chain a notch, get them eating meat for protein instead of rice, that would suck down these sur plus es (sic)

I have farmed for 23 years and never even had a thought of stopping until this year. My wife and I own all the land we farm. Hard work and pinching pennies plus working off farm jobs have gotten us by and paid the land notes. But I am now taking out of my saving to keep the grain farm going. In the last 3 years our crops have been wiped out by hail, insects and now the worst drought in my areas recorded history. My winter wheat died. Never have I had wheat die due to lack of moisture. We have not hay or water for livestock. But the good news is land prices have gone through the roof. $350 dollar land is bringing over $2K. We are considering selling out our equipment at the end of the year. Then selling our land. During this drought (not much to do if nothing is growing) I figured out just how much fun goofing off is. I like it.
