Way back in the day, hundreds of years ago, people planted crops all the time for food. How do think they kept away all the pests that would ruin their plants, without the help of the chemicals we have now?
There is a new robot some people are working on that will be able to kill weeds with lasers, drastically changing the game if this comes to light.
New Tech.
Would you buy one? I sure would.
Just a friendly reminder...........this is the time of year that you want to check the condition of your sump pump to make sure it's in good working order.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
What else on your farm needs to be checked?
I was just curious as to what type of farmers in various regions have different types of firearms.
I have a Winchester rifle, I have a personal plot for my own use and I live in the midwest.
I have a garage with just the shell of a fuse box put up, but I now need some electricity, not a lot, in there. Should I finish the fuse box or just run an extension cord from the house with a 3 way plug-in?
Has anyone here considered starting and maintaining a blog of all things farming? Kind of a condensed go-to for people so they don't have to spend so much time researching all the various aspects of farming/agriculture?
There are pros and cons to unions, no doubt, but how do you see it? Do the pros outweigh the cons to the point where you would join one given the chance?
If you were in a position to where you could, would you hire help around your farm/ranch/operation?
People need work, but this Corona virus is spreading faster than ever right now.
Does anyone think that if there were more women in the agriculture industry that things would be different? Like a change in the numbers of corporate farms for example?
As I'm sure they're out there somewhere, but I have yet to hear about them. If given the chance would you participate in one? I mean, if there were an expo in Virginia but you couldn't go because you were in Oregon, well, here's your chance. Am I right?
There is nothing more important than the family getting together for dinner time. This is something that still holds true today.
We all have different times of the evening that suit us best, so, what time is best for you?
What time is dinner?
There is a story about a commercial pig farm who may have to euthanize hundreds of weight ready pigs because the processing plant that takes them is closed down. And that the grocery store a hundred miles away is out of pork.
With the commercialization of this process that leads to larger and...
Does anyone here collect farming themed knick-knacks or something even bigger. There's a guy that doesn't live too far from me who has two vintage tractors "posed" in his front yard. It looks pretty cool.
I just thought I would share a site (Which I have no affiliation with whatsoever) That is the most informative I have ever seen on a basic level.
I think it's important to know as much about your house and other buildings as you can.
Let me know what you think...
I'm thinking that with COVID 19 gripping so many places so hard, the rise of backyard gardeners is sure to rise. It's a good way to get outside, do a little work and take your mind off your problems. I highly recommend it.
If you have plans for an expo you probably already know about the closures. Like Las Vegas for example. But if you are thinking about making plans, you might want to re-think them.
I guess this is a good time to ask everyone: What other events, besides the ones heard on the news, might not...
Do you think that time will come? Or will automations like drones help with farming in areas traditional machinery can't reach?
What do you see in future?
