  1. PNW Weed identification

My wife also says the second weed is dock. Neither of us know what the first weed is.
  2. Best for getting to fields

I've always used my 4wd pick up or my tractors. I never had a problem, but my pastures and hayfields had thick grass. If it was really wet, I'd use my garden tractor. I have a cart that I can put behind my garden tractor.
  3. Best weed whacker

I hate 2 stroke engines, mixing oil and gas, and they're often hard to start. Last year I bought a Kobalt 80 volt weed whacker from Lowes. It worked well, holds the charge for as long as I need it, and it's powerful enough to take down big weeds. We'll see how well it holds up. The problem...
  4. First year for Orioles

I just saw my first oriole of the year here in upstate New York yesterday. I guess it's time to put my oriole feeder out.
  5. In 1 word describe your weekend?

    Productive!
  6. Donkey shelter?

Donkeys can be agressive with smaller animals and have been known to injure or even kill goats and sheep. It would probably be better if you keep the donkey apart from them. Donkeys make good guard animals with small ruminants, IF they don't become agressive with them. It's a risk to keep...
  7. Trans hydraulic fluid

I agree. I buy TSC's own brand when it goes on sale. It meets the manufacturer's specs. I've never had a problem with it.
  8. To mask or not

The vaccine isn't 100%, plus there are all sorts of variants, and we don't know how affective the vaccine will be against them. Masks are the new normal, they aren't hard to get used to. We'll be wearing them for a while yet.
  9. Right To Repair

OK, I guess that doesn't happen here in NY, but it shouldn't happen anywhere, no matter what the politics are.
  10. Coon or bear...

I agree with Urban Homestead, a bear would have probably caused more damage. I've had both attack my bird feeders, once a bear has been there, you know it.
  11. Tiny egg

I don' want to dispute the other theories, but if you had some first time layers, I'm quite sure one of them was the source of the tiny egg. Her next egg will probably be normal sized.
  12. Right To Repair

Wow, I never heard about this before. Most of my tractors have been older, the only new tractor I ever bought was a Kubota, and I've never had any problem working on it myself. Though, happily it's never needed anything but routine maintenance.
  13. Tiny egg

Young chickens first eggs are often very small. Do you have any first time layers?
  14. No bees. You?

Great timing. I saw my first bees today on some of our flowering trees.
  15. Rain and more rain

It's been raining here in upstate New york for the past 2 days. It's supposed to rain tomorrow, too. I'm not complaining, either!
  16. Lower Lumber Price?

I've got a lot of work I have to do to my barn. I'm not looking forward to lumber prices. Plus my favorite building supply place just went out of business. The brothters who owned it retired and sold it to a chain, so I don't know if lumber prices had anything to do with that. But at least...
  17. Sunshine GardenHouse

I would still send an email to the company telling them what your problems were. A quality company should stand behind their product, even if you did sit on it for a while. You never know, they still might send you something to pay for your troubles. We're all business people and I'm sure we...
  18. Dewalt zero-turn

Since Dewalt makes battery powered tools, was the mower electric? I didn't know Dewalt made mowers either.
  19. Keeping small critters out

I wasn't clear, I meant make a high cage around the beds with chicken wire.
  20. Keeping small critters out

Have you tried covering the beds with chicken wire?
