It could be a leaky fuel injector or a restricted line. There are probably more possibilities, but that's what came to mind when I first read it. I'm sorry, but it might be expensive to fix if there's been a lot of damage.
I'm cackling that you guys have stink bugs in Italy too. I guess some pests are universally disliked. I'm not an organic grower and I'm not necessarily against using commercial pesticides when the situation calls for it in order to save a person's livelihood. I try to plant varieties that are...
I think you're just misinterpreting what they meant. The class will probably be about isolating the sick birds and making sure that it's Marek's. Then culling and disposing of the carcasses responsibly. They'll likely bring up vaccinations to make sure that the remaining birds remain healthy...
I've used the calculator on Accidental Smallholder's website in the past. It's a good one. You will get better at estimating these things automatically after you've raised a few animals. It just takes time.

I never expected that lab-grown meat would amount to much, but apparently that sector has seen a huge boost in funding. Do you believe this will affect livestock farmers in the near future?
Our neighborhood had a small outdoor block party and one of the guys was serving up grilled watermelon and avocado. Have you ever heard of that? It was surprisingly tasty. I'm going to get the recipe from him when I can. What's the craziest thing you've ever had off the grill?
My favorite is spring because it's the time of renewal. I love seeing the tulips and daffodils when they start peeking up. I agree with @FaithBean too. It's nice to see the songbirds come back.
I keep seeing the advertisements for $50 off the internet, provided by the FCC, for families that qualify. I know some people that it would help so I sent the information their way. I figured I'd share here too. I'll quote directly from their website:
A household is eligible if a member of...
Yes, we have several. They're very much needed for slaughtering large animals that we're going to process. They're handy for when calving goes wrong and an animal needs put down quickly so they don't suffer. Everyone in our household knows to respect guns and leave them alone. I'm not...
I rotate my plots every other year. I don't use pesticides or anything like that and every other year still works out well for us. My neighbors rotate theirs every season, and they seem to have success with that. I've wondered how often others do it too.
Is this your first time? I'm trying to remember your background and how you got started, but sometimes I mix people up. If it's your first time ever butchering an animal and processing it, then I'd try to get some help from someone who knows what they're doing. Those pigs will be heavy! If...
I got so many great tips from @RichZ and @Birdie that I want to share one that I've learned. Right off the bat, I'll admit that it's not for the squeamish, but I use circular lights to lure bugs into my aviary. They run on a battery, and they get bright but not hot. I don't turn them on every...
Yep, it's my favorite part of the day. I drink my coffee and read the newspaper at the kitchen table before everyone else gets up. It is a wonderful way to start the day.
Although the donkey will likely be fine with the goats, I probably wouldn't take that risk since it isn't your donkey, and it will be there for a short period of time. There are other things you can do to provide stimulation, such as spending extra time with him and plugging in a radio so he...
Is it sad? If it's sad at all, count me out. I still tear up when someone talks about Old Yeller. My husband has started on the aviary. These quail have always walked on wire, but the vet came out and he thinks they'll do okay in an aviary. I appreciate all the help you've shared!
@Birdie...
My husband is building an aviary for my quail covey and I'd like to grow some plants inside. It will be open to the sunshine and air, but covered with wire all the way around to protect the quail. What will grow under these conditions that the covey will enjoy?
If you don't have neighbors with young kids, then I would say at least 16 so they can drive to your place. Not many parents would want to cart their teen to work that early in the morning, then have to wait on them to get done. Besides, I think 16 is what's required by the law anyway. A...
@RichZ, the neighbor brought their old cage and that seems to have helped. I don't understand it though. I was trying to enrich their lives by giving them more space to roam.
@Birdie, I have a covey of Japanese quail. They've been relocated to the garage. I can't live like this forever. I...
Get them a backpack and train them to bring you stuff. Or get them a cart and let them pull it. I keep mine occupied by letting them work for their food sometimes. I have large toy balls with openings that drop goat feed when they're rolled. It keeps them entertained for a while.
Thanks for the reminder. I've been getting irritated with my husband lately. He gave me flowers this morning and I was a bit short with him. I'm getting offline to tell him I love him. And I do. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Talk about her here if it helps.
