The most expensive tractors in the world

Case IH Quadtrac 620 costs around $3,000,000. It has a 12900cc six-cylindered powered. John Deere 9620RX, which costs around $2,800,000, comes with a Cummins QSX15 engine with a total displacement of 14900cc. I am just curious to know what else sets these tractors apart?

Farmers' role in the Paris agreement

President Biden recommitted the United States to the Paris climate agreement, an accord designed to avert catastrophic global warming. Do you think countries are doing enough to curb carbon emissions? Also, how can farmers play their part?

    Average age of farmers

I think it is only fair that anybody who spends long hours on the farm is considered a farmer. In that case, I would quote the average age at approximately. Lately, more young people in my area are venturing into farming!

Take risk or play it safe?

As a farmer, you can only hope that a crop you plant will flourish and that there will be a ready market. You can never be sure that everything will go as planned. Take the risk and hope for the best!

Preventing and dealing with crop failure

Extreme weather in certain regions is to blame for crop loss. The solution for this is to get hybrid seeds with high yield potential. Also, the use of digital farming technology can allow farmers to diagnose and treat plant diseases early.

    Maintaining healthy soil

Without healthy soil, there cannot be environmentally sound, profitable, and productive agricultural systems. How best can we manage or improve the quality of this critical resource? Regulation of water and air quickly comes to mind.

    Storing apples

Just as @Emergency Cake opines, it depends on how you want to preserve them. Like other fruits, apples retain better flavor and texture when packed in sugar syrup or sugar.

    Backyard livestock

Most people assume that raising animals in a traditional backyard is easy. However, this is a venture that requires careful and detailed planning. There has to be some space for the garden, and the environment should be clean and healthy. If you had to start, which animals would you pick?

    Digital farming

You are right, @Emergency Cake. Whereas innovation and technology are needed, the cost may be prohibitive for most farmers. I think that a gradual uptake of innovations will define the future. Do you feel like farmers require more support and incentivized legislation?

    Vertical Farming

It is slowly gaining popularity, and if done correctly, vertical farming could be the next big thing. With this option, a farmer can get consistent crop production throughout the year. Also, by adopting the hydroponic growing process, there is reduced usage of water.

    Contactless payments

The pandemic has changed the way we conduct business, and contactless payment is now the new normal. It is the right time to consider implementing this payment system. Generally speaking, customers are making the switch in numbers, and it is up to us to offer them their preferred payment method.

    Retiring?

I cannot imagine what you felt after selling your farm since we tend to get attached to our farms. As you say, it is hard to get farming out of your system; it becomes second nature after a while. We have not yet made plans to sell but have ceded most operations to a management firm.

    Loans, easy or hard?

I'd say that despite the shaky economy, banks are willing to advance loans to farmers. Get hold of a bank representative and discuss the various financing options. If you opt for an asset finance loan, the farm machinery may become the loan's security.

    Preventing crop loss

According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO),about one-third of the world's food production goes to waste before people consume it. What are some of the methods farmers can use to prevent crop loss amidst the usual challenges they face?

    Staying safe while handling cattle.

Bulls are far much worse since they account for numerous farm-related injuries. You have to avoid loud noises and quick movements when around them. Did you know that cattle have sensitive hearing and can detect sounds that human ears cannot hear?

    Making Zoom Fun

Zoom has gained a lot of popularity during this period, and most people took a while to get used to it. Is it worth opting for the subscription model? My friends and family will be happy to play games during our usual calls.

    Geese

Yes, geese can be messy, but this shouldn't discourage you from raising them. Typically, they get along well with other mammals, including cows, goats, sheep, llamas, and donkeys. They also require to be secured in predator-proof housing.

    Good Reading Material

You may want to try out Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens (I hear there is a movie in the works too). Thank you for your suggestions as well; I already have ideas for my 2021 reading list!

    Joining a farmers group

I have, for a long time, toyed with the idea of joining a farmers association. For one, information spreads fast when we work together. Also, there are economic benefits when farmers help each other, plus different skills are better used. What did you consider before deciding to join a group?

    How often do you replace?

You can own some machinery (like tractors) for as long as you want. How long these can last depends on the frequency of service and how well-trained the handlers are. I trade any time there's an opportunity to do so presents itself and when (subsequently) there's value for money.
