Combines 2388

This brings me to my question. To buy a new Case combine with the 2377 as the smallest machine, will you be able to keep it full with an average corn crop and a 6 row headIJ Keep in mind a 2377 is just a few ponies short of a 2388!!! I'm in the same predicament an 8 row head will not work since most farmers around here plant with a 6 row or 12 row planter and can't drive straight enough to keep there guess rows at 30" +_-.

I say go for an 88 with a six row. lots of 1480s and 1680s around here with six rows, same rotor. I don't buy the "won't do a good job if not full"... It will still do a good job. In 200 bu corn, one could go 4-5+ mph with ease, would rather do that than a smaller machine and someday decide to go bigger head, then you are just crawling. Also know of a 1460 with a 1083, can you say SNAIlIJ I would always rather have big combine with perhaps smaller head than big head and small combine. But I'm not spending your $, to each their own. Cheers!

How did you determine the rotor loss goes up when the rotor is less fullIJ I have heard this theory many times, but have not been able to prove it to myself. We don't do corn, if that makes a difference.

Alot of difference in a 2366_2377 and a 1460 If all i was going to use was a 6 row corn head and i saw that it wasn't going to change i still think you would save some money and do yourself good by going with either of them

Point taken, definately can't compare 1460 to 66_77, would be like comparing a Super M to a Magnum. I was just using the 14 with 8 row as an example of big head small combine. Meaning I wouldn't want to run a 12 row corn head or 30 ft on a 2366, which i guess he doesn't want to do anyway. Moral of story, 66-77-88 will all work great with what he wants to do I believe, I'd go for the best deal (dollars_condition) and not worry too much about size, if he's looking at a 23. And I would compare a new 2377 to a 2188 with a new sticker, meaning same horsepower, and 30" rotorIJ my .02
