Combines 2388

If you want to improve the performance look into getting a AFX rotor with the spiral front or get the afermarket version from Stewart Steel in Alberta. Also check at left side of this page for "attachments." Our host, Marvin Gordon has rub bars and a new style chaffer that will help too. For wear check everything the grain touches on its way through the rotor cage, like elephant ears, vanes, rub bars, concaves and all the augers.

Why do you want to skid the macdon for a honeybeeIJ Macdon is lighter and easier on the weak final drives on these combines. With HB you will have to counter weight rear of machine, adding stress. Just my experience!

Will never have another macdonn pile of crap on the farm. We had a 960 harvest head that that in it 1.5 seasons with us went through three wobble boxes. two reel motors. Two right hand canvas drive motors, one auger in the short deck and four knives and one set of gaurds. We also had a power unit that had a hay header and a 30 foot grain header for two seasons, that was nothing but junk. So if a honey bee is to heavy for a 2388 then i will look at a 30 foot auger head.

I would not say a HB is to heavy for your combine, just heavier than a macdon. By allmeans don't go the auger header route. I have run a macdon 960 for 10 yrs with just a few guards and sections replaced.Either I'm lucky or you have had alot of duds. But you gotta go with what works for you not me.

If the kit that I think you are talking about is the one with drive pulley, torque sensing pulley, and longer rotor belt, the part number is 87301073 and the price is approx. $2200.

I think you are talking about the complete kit which is around $2200.00. The new part number is 87301073. The original part number is 87403332, but is has the overagressive cam angle and you do not want that.
