We were one of the first opperations in our area to go to 30" row corn back in 1965. Yes we do use fertilizer, 10 gal. 10-34-0 in the row and 180 units of nitrogen side dressed. Corn this year is running 180-200 BPA 16-20 moisture. We plant all roundup beans, and they are all notilled, were one of the first opperations to do that also. Beans went 55-60 BPA this year. We have 4 tractors with cabs and all have airconditioning that actually works.., of course they are all at least 20 years old. One of them is a 1977 1086 that I am kinda proud of and another one is even a MFD with radials... We still have some tractors without cabs, come to think of it I planted over 400 acres of corn this year with a 1972 JD 4020. Guess the newest thing we have around is The 1644 with 20' 1020 flexhead and 1063 cornhead, WOW what a machine. Think I'll go have another mug of coffee while I shell some corn this afternoon. Have a nice day.

he is very knowledgeable of the 8010 to be a deere man. I think he is for real. If not maybe a disgruntled CIH mechanic. In his defense if all of these problems are occuring on a new machine I would be upset to. I would send it back!

Hey 1644, do you visit redpowermagazine.comIJ You might have fun over there. A lot of people run old 1086s and 1206s. It would be fun to here about your farming. If you have a digital camera, post some pics of the 1086. Hope ta see ya there.:)

1086 is oldIJ Dang now you burst my bubble, have an 81 model with the closed center hydraulic system, been a great tractor. Air works on it too! Spray, cultivate, do all kinds of work with it. Didn't realize I had to spend 90 grand on a tractor to do those jobs........could sell the house and the kids' shoes to help pay for the new tractor that will be driven 3-400 hours a year.......

This my first post to this board, but I have read it for years. I find this whole 8010 discussion to be quite amusing, with the colour conspiracies and the great "who is farmertony" mystery. Some facts for the discussion... I was responsible for the startup and infield performance of a number of 8010's in my region and have 20 years experience with axial flow combines. We harvest cereals, pulse crops and oilseeds with huge amounts of straw, but no corn or soybeans. The verdict... they're not perfect, (there were some, not many, quality control issues),but they stayed in the field real well for the first full year of production. There was a measured 30 - 40% increase in capacity over '04 2388's in very tough harvest conditions. We had no more startup concerns than the new greens or yellows in our area, and the others are old technology. The 8010 certainly behaves differently than the 23's as far as fine tuning the combine, but once you learn how they operate, you can get a superb sample with excellent capacity. The verdict... we have more customers wishing to buy than we can get supply. Why do they want to buyIJ Because they rode with the owners and talked to the owners and see the capabilities of this machine. If reliabilty was a real issue in our area, they would have run away in droves. We have a very short (less than on month on average) time frame in which to get the harvest off before the snow flies. The 8010's are not for everyone, and for most farmers, the 2388's are still the best choice. But for those who need the big capacity of the 8010, it will serve them well. I have heard of a couple of 8010's in western Canada that did not perform as well as expected, but they were a very small percentage of the total, no more than other colours see on average. The 8010 is here to stay, and I look forward to seeing the combine improve year after year, just as the original axials did.

There is a guy in Vermilion with 10 8010 and could only keep 6 in the field at one time running.

Whatever, I guess it is not odd that the GREAT FARMERTONY will not respond and reveal the location of his operation. Deere doesn't have much reason to be concerned with the sucess of the 8010 either. Good day!

Gee sorry redforever, that is in no way what I meant. I meant, it would be fun to talk about 1086s and 1206s and 706s on another board. They're great tractors, and I for one enjoy them. I was only asking if 1644 visits that site. I hope you did'nt take any offense to the post.
