Combines 8010 saga continues

No offense taken, I was just being a little "tongue in cheek"! Some guys are willing to shell out their hard earned money for new equipment without thinking about it, and thats fine. I guess I am satisfied with something that is making me money, bottom line. After all, isn't that what we are doing this forIJ I have no intention of getting caught up in the craze thats going on around here, "I need new machinery, but then I need to have more land to pay for it, but then I have to bid more to get the land, so I have to farm more to make it, but then I need more machinery, and on and on". Proverbial dog chasing its tail. I'd rather take my boys deer hunting or go to their football games.

Is there any way you could find out the specifications of the oil in the machineIJ I think everyone is going to 10 or 20 wt motor oil in the newer hydrostatic systems. A closed loop system is very very picky about cavitation. The causes of which are many. Sometimes oil that has the wrong additive can allow minute air bubbles to form in the supply tank. If this happens, even the computor wont be able to correct for it. Its just another thing you might talk with your tech about and see if its something to try.

So the fellow with 10 can only keep 6 running thats 60% my neighbor has to Deere STSs and he can only keep 1 running thats 50% so I guess the 8010 is better! Now with all Tonys problems I am begining to think just maybe he should not own one. Maybe he himself is just an opperater and really dose not know how to set and fine tune now my 8010 is not that bad I expected it to have some isues thats why I kept 2 2388s for now eventually thet will go for another 8010 I new there was something wrong with Tony when he could not make his Crary air head work we had a few issues with mine but it worked well. You just can not drive the first year you need to adjust and set and try diferent setings oh the other 4 8010s out of the Arnolds dealership are all working well from what service man told me.

We had a bearing go out on the driver side of our combine. It was a simple bearing on the frame back by the sieves. No big deal, its saturday at two pm, we'll call the local case people and get a bearing. It could be Tuesday before we get one, the parts locator finds one in the Dakota's. Meantime another day or two goes by without us getting across the acres we need to cover. I don't feel like the case leadership understands how much money a simple bearing can cost a farmer. Maybe our dealer should of kept the part in stock. We had to drive five hours one way to get a header gearbox but it was our fault the gearbox went bad so I didn't think it was that big a deal. But it would of been nice to go to a local dealership or one an hour away and get a gearbox. I'm starting to hear more and more stories about 8010's not being able to get parts such as feeder chains. If I don't want parts for my combine, I'll run a lexion. The outside panels on both sides of our combine that have holes or cracks. The Case guys said no problem, we'll put new ones on. The last guy left a message about this is a bigger combine for people who get across a lot of acres. Well, I'd say to that to get across a lot of acres you might need to send 2 combines to the dealership when they order one. That way we'll be able to rob parts off the one sitting there to keep ours running. Downtime is costly to say the least. I don't even mind our guys stealing the parts off the extra combine, but its got to keep moving. This is a lexion idea for sure, I've seen these things stripped from head to toe. But atleast it kept the others up and rolling.
