Combines Accelerator Rolls

My N5 has the old style rolls in it. They are one piece so I think I have to upgrade to a new style that has replacable flutes.

We put steel ones in our c-62 I think they came from agco

I have never heard of steel ones!!! Where did you get themIJ How are they lastingIJ

The steel rolls were only used for the C62, to try to better the life of the belt and increase the capacity by using a non-coated lug for a deeper channel. C62 only has one roll, whereas the Rs have 2, which are still rubber.

Can't you yanks source stainless accelerator roller insertsIJ Warren loewen was interested in supplying aftermarket ss inserts. Check with him if these are of interest. Otherwise there are manufacturers and supplyers down here in oz. I have run ss inserts in my R72 in cereals,canola,chick peas since 1997 with great success. Thousands of hours in hard wheat and still next to no wear evident. Work under rollers, on board, on back with trusty raddle gun and put bolts back with locktite. Having done this,forget until header(er,combine for you Northerners)falls apart around the ss roller inserts. Then replace complete header(er, combine). Best of luck.

C62 Accelerator roll lugs are now steel with no rubber coating. The center bolt is self-threading and the two outer bolts on the ends of each lug are capscrews that go through the shaft for better retention. 71392631 Accelerator roll lug; 71392639 Accelerator roll lug kit. Hope this helps.

I dont think i would recomend this. I think it would not add much in the way of performance and would still cost.In fact i think it would add a problem of a hard to adjust combine because all would not be even. Just bite the bullet and but a full set. VSTK

I replaced mine as a set and I don't regret the money spent. Couldn't believe the difference it made to cleaning and capacity. I might add that I had to find used shafts for mine as well as the earlier rollers are obsolete.

Didn't someone post here that you change rolls by checking for wear ran rather than by how many acres have gone through the machine. Would'nt wear be different for different crops and conditionsIJ Maybe someone that's an expert can enlighten us. I'd be interested myself. My memory is a bit foggy, but I thought I remembered a post about checking with the thickness of a pencil between the rolls.

Someone posted that they sharpend theirs with a angle grinder and that made a huge difference. Maybe if you did it, you could get by another year. I sharpend the knives in our N6 chopper and that did us a nicer job. This year I resharpend them as well as the swinging hammers. It should do an even better now. If they are sharp, they should pull the stacks though better.
