AgcoFan they do a nice job in terms of sample but for being reliable and built heavy is a different story.. Dey's brought the Massey over for me to try in soybeans.. My 9650 sts blew the doors off of it buy almost a mile an hour.. and was doing a better cutting and spreading job.. That that was the first and last time I let a Massey in my fields.. unless they change something wasnt impressed.. and the technology is years behind in terms of cab.. just my 2 cents

for $40,000 dollars more it had better do better than the massey! yes we run massey and have had a demo with a 9660 but we still bought a massey put them side by side and pull the shields and compare that! simplicity on the massey and the deere well it just had lots of moving parts to the mf has hardly any of that there to cause problems. our repair bill on our MF combines have always been a 1_3 of what case or deere owners have had in our area, case friends of our had to put elephant ears on every other yeah in 2000 hours never touched ours and still looked great has over 3000 now and the owner says its still in good shape, the deere neighbors they always take theirs into deere dealers for inspection and spend more money than we do every year, in my area have seen a guy with a 9500, 1688,1660,tr98,2388,9610 go to MF and talked to them all and all have loved them, all had the demo of them and that is why they bought them. they said couldn't believe the repair bills on them was so cheap to what they had they were comparing them when they were new as well and were talking to friends that have updated to newer models as well. allen yeah some things ain't as nice on the MF but we don't want to pay $40,000 trade difference for some stuff we don't need that is our opinion and the opinion of people around here as well and yes that was the price we were quoted to trade combines.

I would have to say that the CR would have an advantage in cleaning shoe capacity. The 2388 is more similar to a TR99 in size.

Nathan, Just wondering why you think you need a machine of that size for those amount of acres. Could you please explain your reasoning. When I had my 1644 there was one year I did 2150 ac,mind you it was a good year ('99) weatherwise as I finished on Nov 14,compared to this year 1860ac,with a 2344 Dec 8.(22 days of rain in OCT!) Just curious Thanks!

He better have a good reason, too, or we just won't let him have a big combine! One reason could be that he doesn't want to still be combining Dec. 8. Another could be that he doesn't want to still be combining Nov. 14. In some areas one doesn't get much done when it gets that late. And a lot of people still have a lot to do after combining is finished for the season. Of course if one could pick up enough cheap, temporary help that didn't cause a lot of expensive equipment damage, then the money for the bigger combine could be used for that. Could get finished early with the same cost. Personally I prefer to put the money in the bigger machine and save all the headaches involved with temp labor. Usually it all costs the same anyway, with fewer headaches involved by going with the larger combine.
