I'd want a new engine. It might be ok but there's more than enough to worry about during harvest with out worrying about that engine that might be ok. You've invested a lot into a machine to do a good job.The engine's these days are usually hassle free ,keep it that way. New engine out early ! Nah ! Fixed up clunger in new combine ! Nah ! Dept of fair trading will help out especially with the fine print and company wool pulling . Good luck.

I hope dealer was able to get you a comparable machine well short of the 11 days you said you were down. What was Cummins doing them first times they were out and was that all before engine failedIJ We're they looking for a noiseIJ Did they have intake associated parts off and lose a bolt which ended up in engine. I don't think it would be to hard to figure out where bolt come from that caused engine failure. Did bolt go threw turboIJ Bolt wouldn't have been in engine long after it got on top of piston and doubt it was giving any trouble until it hit piston. If it was Cummins repairman that left a bolt in engine it would not be Cummins engine or Agco fault. You see what I mean. Try find out exactly what happened and go from there. Don't stop until you are satisfied. I don't think you will get a new engine when it was fixed as good or maybe even better than new!!! But I bet responsible party will extend warrentee for you. I surely hope that you got a machine to use promply when you were down. Good luck.

G'day Dan, We were able to use a '96 R-72, so not exactly a step down!! Cummins thought it was in the fuel side of things, and replaced injectors etc. looking for a dead miss in no. 6 at up to about 1500 RPM. The engine ran fine at full song, perhaps minus a few horsepower, but the crops weren't good enough this year to test it. The turbo was undamaged, manifolds stayed on until she cried enough.
