We bought one last year and it definitely helped in soybeans. In my opinion it is worth the extra money.

Darel, What all do you have to changeIJ Do you just buy the F series auger from Deere and put it in. Or is there more to changeIJ How much is the new augerIJ

I run a K2 gleaner with 12foot rigid header that usually works just fine until I fight the feeding constantly when harvesting taller plant type soybeans [36"-50']. They bunch up on the auger then slug inwards at once. The plants can't seem to lay down and the auger doesn't grab them either. I know my machine is of an older design, but could I move my reel farther forward to help the problemIJ Does anyone know how to deal with this besides just slowing down the travel speedIJ What exactly is a full finger augerIJ Did you buy a kit and attach it to your existing platform auger or is it a whole new augerIJ I would have to agree that the even feeding on a machine in soybeans makes all the difference.

A full finger auger has retractable fingers across its full width, not just in front of the feeder house. The fingers were installed in the existing cross auger by Ag Machine Solutions in Virden, Il. On your head usally having the reel as close to the auger as possible will do the best job of feeding.

Try sharpening the leading edge of your flighting on your cross auger. lift the reel all the way up and use an angle grinder to sharpen the leading edge as someone slowly turns the auger.

if I remember correctly when I had my k2 and the series 2 platform you could adjust the table auger itself. check your manual it my deal with the problem you are having.

I did the sharpening edge thing with the grinder about 4 years ago. Maybe I just need to do it again to reshape it for more grabbing action. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure I read this posted somewhere on this that that someone hammered lock washers onto the flighting to grab the material.. havent tried it myself but think i will this fall, Ed
