I hope you are right Dan, I just got me a new 220A,But I was really never impressed with the cummins, the Agco's with the detroit that I owned before the cummins, always seemed to have alot more guts then the cummins engine. IG
Not sure about test results. These engines are not new to combines either. In Europe, the MF Cerea 7278 combine has a 387 H.P. Sisu power plant in it. Personally, I've been running MF tractors with the Valmet (same as Sisu) engine since 1995 and have had no problems. I also know that I don't need to head for the fuel barrel as often as my friends running the same horsepower green tractors.
Just what are they using the replace the 660 - m11 in the 75IJ Just what tractor uses that engineIJ The site for the euro tests is http:__www2.oecd.org_agr-coddb_index_en.asp All the tractors at over 200kw are american.
High horsepower (above 130 hp) Massey tractors have had this engine for a long time. look up 82XX series in the Nebraska tests. These were all mechanical injection pumps. Combines are running a common rail system. R75 has same engine as R65. It is an 8.4 litre with 4 valves per piston. It is a good thing for Agco to have their own engine in their equipment.
All the 8400 series Massey tractors use the Sisu and I think the DT Agco's are also. The 8470 and 8480 are both well over 200 PTO HP. I think the engine in the 8480 is rated at 310.
Thanks, It would seem to be quite similar to other engines in the 8.1 to 8.4 range. http:__tractortestlab.unl.edu_Massey_8280.pdf Maybe it's just me, but I like cubic inches. I see no advantage to this engine over other similar green_red engines.
Boy I heard that about the Duetz motors about 18 years ago. Yes good motors, but they better not break because parts will be high and availablility limited. Just what you need in a combine engine. My guess is the SISU is a good engine but parts will be high and availability limited. I'd much rather them stick with a US made motor be it Cat, Cummins or Detroit.
