I think your auger will wrap. There will be no release on the back side of the auger.

I was thinking of ordering some of these also.I brought up the wrapping question to the salesman and he said they protrude out about equal with the auger flighting therefore the stripper plate on the back side of the auger should prevent this---if set right. I haven't ordered yet so any further comments would be greatly appreciated.

Just a heads up, someone on New Ag Talk said that the drill bit provided with the Grabbers is too large for the sheetmetal screws provided and you are apt to strip out the sheetmetal when you tighten the screw.

are the grain grabbers made to be used with beans only or will they work with long stemmed grain crops IJ does one mount them in a horizontal row parallel to the auger tube or spiral them around like the auger flighting IJ is one between each 2 auger flights per revolution of the auger flighting, the correct amount of grain grabbers to install IJ thanks for any help. We recently put on a set on our 30' 1020. We haven't used them yet but there was a post about a month ago on AgOnline and 2 or 3 guys that had used them said they were satisfied with them. Didn't see any negative responses about them. Yes, the drill bit furnished is too large, you need to use one about 1_16" smaller. They mount one grabber between each roll of the flight and are spaced every 45 and should start so that the 1st one one the end is between the flighting and the end of the platform. They do not stickout quite as far as the flighting but fairly close. I have questions about wrapping as well but I figured at $225 for a 30' head they were cheaper than a full fingered auger and worth a shot. Have spent more money one things that were a bust in the past and if the money breaks me I should have gotten out of farming sooner. On the 30' they sent 10 grabbers. We added the auger extensions to our platform and to get the grabbers to workout right we had to purchase 2 more.

Boog, was thinking about a set as well. I have been holding off to see if I could hear any comments about them before I purchased. I was also considering a set of disrupters for the grates for green stems. Please post once you have an opinion on the grabbers. Andy

Boog, did you add the flighting extensions that replace the center fingers on the augerIJ I think we are going to add them to our head this year, Young's new heads come with them instead of fingers and he said they are a big improvement.

Those were the flighting extensions we added but only removed one outer finger on each side per instructions. Actually we bought the extensions last year toward the end of bean harvest based on the recomendation of a friend who happens to be a combine test engineer for CIH but didn't get around to getting them on till now. Another change we made was going to the serrated feederhouse chain. It sure looks aggressive compared to the smooth slats. Should be for the extra expense.

Andy, I'll let you know how they work but it's going to be at least a couple weeks before we have any beans ready to cut. Have a safe harvest.
