it seemed to me over the summer the fuel price didn't make a lot of difference. I wish it did or i would have done well but the price killed me from start to finish.

13_13_13.......we'll just use this for arguments sake. It means..... 13 dollars an acre to cut 13 cents a mile delivery with truck...cannot remember if this is 13 cents a bushel a mile or just per mile. 13 cents a bushel for every bushel over 30 bpa. Now, that was last I was told. Some it varies on the yield. Some seems like if it is a very short distance have a flat rate for the truck. I think it all depends upon circumstances.

We are still getting just the 13's, wheat was fair at best in Western Kansas this summer. We did get a couple more cents for picking corn this fall though. Along the whole harvest route the general consensus was "we need to go up for All costs, especially fuel, but there is some out there that is willing to do the work for what we are getting or less to have a job." There is not much margin anymore, it is so competitive. Fuel prices are expected to be 30% lower than last year, so if that holds i would not expect rates (at least out west) to go up this summer either. 13 cents for every bushel over 20 nowIJ Used to be 30 I was told. Must be that 4 years of drought in Kansas changing the scope. Thanks for clearing it up. I knew I was close. Couldn't remember exactly. Should tell you how much custom cutting I do and how much I hire.

I have heard that about Montana, we do not go that far North, we have pretty good luck staying closer to home. We consider ourselves lucky for that, but the drought has hurt us pretty bad the last couple of years. We do some work in south-central Colorado in august and September, we never get more than 330 miles from home and we like that. Start in late May and finish with corn_beans_milo about the 1st of December usually, and run pretty hard, being up North I know that is not possible for you. lets hope for all of us, especially the farmers that the moisture continues to hold and we have a bumper wheat crop. beh

You could be right on that over 30, i was talking to a freind in central Kansas and he thought that that is what they got in central Kansas, where they draw the line between 20 and 30 i don't know. He also told me that they are at 14's for a rate there too. I guess it is whatever a guy can negotiate for, but it needs to be somewhere in norm. This is an interesting subject, i would like to hear what rates are in other parts of the world. have a good one beh

I,m in maryland and the rate here is around $28.00 per acre but dont have near the acres Hauling is .26 cents per bushel

I have been reaping in South Australia mainly, but also up to Northen NSW. going rate for a decent cap. header is around $350 per Hour (knife_productive hour not engine hour) or acre rate of around $12 per acre then 50cents to a $1 a bag once over a tonne_acre. ie. acre rate 18 bag_acre wheat crop equals $15 when reaping at $12_acre +50c. i was wondering from a interest point of view, what opportunities are available in the USA and elsewhere in farming as far as contract or leasing goes. leasing prices_availability etc. thanks
