Combines Interesting 8010 thread from another forum

I know of only one farmer who has an 8010 and he has had a good first year with his. A few minor problems to report "here and there" but, for the most part, it's been a fairly reliable machine for him. I think it's a case where the owners of the reliable 8010's are seldom_never heard.

That's normally the case. People like to complain a lot more than they like to give credit. Chads

last week I talked to a guy an hour or so from me that bought an 8010 last year. He harvested corn, rice, and soybeans with great sucess. He had a little trouble getting everything set up, but once they learned how to run it, it gave no trouble. He used a 30ft draper header for the rice and soybeans. He said he couldn't go fast enough to keep it full in corn, because all he could get was an 8 row 38" corn head. He has a 12 row 38" one coming for next year. If you look back to the earliest threads on this forum, you will see lots of complaints about the early 2188's. But they did allright, and the 8010 will too, once they get the bugs worked out on them. The STS's had some early bugs as well.

I also have neighbor that traded 3 2388's for 2 8010's. Had some down time with them, but still thought he did more with 2 than 3! Was pretty impressive to watch them run.

The way I see it, it's just like people who don't wear seat-belts in their cars and use some argument like "this one guy I knew was burned up inside his car cause he got stuck in the seat-belt". That's all fine, but you seldom hear of all the cases where people actually survived because of it. Same thing with any machine, very few guys would ever put a post up that says "I bought a brand new combine and it's working like a charm", because they just assume that it should be. And I agree, it should be, but one should always be reasonable too. Give credit where it's due, ya knowIJ

i got just got back from a product meeting for CIH and i just had to ask the guys how customers 8010's were running for them after reading the compaints on this site. out of the group there was 6 sold and they said that there were some minor problems but the farmers were very immpressed. biggest problem was keeping the grain away. i'm not saying that the rice harvesters dont have some issues they would like addressed with but reports are good an dryland harvesting around me.

One complaint I heard from rice guys(actually salesmans BIl),and they were running stripper headers, was poor sample quality. He figured it was probably due to not enough material moving through the machine. Anything on thatIJ Also, did they say how many 8010's will be out this yearIJ Chads

the guys i talked to were service managers at other dealers, not the brass so i didnt get any numbers. the meeting was about tractors, and skids so i didnt really want to drag another topic in too bad.on another note after beating up on the employees and plant managers at the MXM plant 3 times for the last while do to poor quality control issues over there, it sounds like the problem is finally resolved. time will tell with the new ones comming in but they seemed confident about it.
