if i had to choose something other than an axial flow it would probably be either a gleaner or an sts, but i would have to worry about gleaner service here since there isn't a dealer worth a darn within about 100 miles. A Massey would run a close 3rd though.

IF we are playing make believe with good dealers near by, why not do it with the combines as well. Santa this year for Christmas I want.... A class VIII John Deere Bi-rotor combine with a 40ft MWF draper front, yeild_moisture_protien monitor which also contols autosteer_GPS navagation on the same screen, plus u can also watch DVD's_tv on that same 14inch lcd screen as the front will have an auto header height setup as well. It will have IlS on the front and rear axle's and a 20km working gear to keep it full and a 40 - 50km_hr transport gear. It will have a 10 tonne bin and a 4 bushell_sec unloading auger which will be long enough to allow me to unload on the go to center of the chaser bin which will be exactly on my tracks from the last run, even though the front is center mounted, and it will be able to swing either side of the machine and achieve this. It will be extremely easy to clean and maintain as there are bugger all belts_chains and well designed and layed out with minimal areas on the machine to allow dust_residue to lay_build up. In transport mode it will be under 3.5 meters to allow us to move it from place to place without having to put up with all the escorts regulations etc. O and it will cost Santa less than $200 000 Aus. fully delivered. Only use 400 litres of fuel every 15hrs and service intervals will be once a season. It will be built like a brick sh1thouse (instead of soy and plastic) and never wear out. hahahaha if only. I have told my Case dealer if they ever quit making the 2388 I would buy a Gleaner R75 in a heart beat it has the proven cummins engine and they have great service on the custom harvest run and my local dealer is my neighbour so service would not be an issue.

Massey 9790xp 12 row 20 corn head 25 ft header if I was going to have Santa build me one however ot would go like this: 8010 cage and concaves with AFX rotor The whole cleaning shoe out of a 595R Cat Harvestec or Drageo 20 in corn head Cat_lexion bean head 855 Cummins for an engine set about oh say 555hp 500bu hopper full tracks like on the old Class dominators XM satilite radio ag leader Yield Monitor and all that stuff A nice buddy seat for Mrs Bier. Big fast unloader that could always hit the center of the cart. and it would not cost much over $75,000 Oh paint it a nice shade of Blue,I like the color Blue. Merry Hoildays. later, Will

I would choose the MF 9790 also, since you say dealers and service are good and close. That is probably the only reason stopping me now. Since CNH has a big tendancy to put stuff out w_o significant RandD and they tend to be in the stone ages on developing functional electronic luxury devices.

It would be a Massey rotor, But!!!! AGCO would not be the parent company. I am so disapointed in that company. I had high hopes for them to become a force to be reckoned with. All I see is corporate raiders at work. They sure made crap out of the AGchem operation. Now that I've got that out of my system, Yes it would be a Massey.

It would be (and still "might" be) a Massey 9690. I can't believe the simplicity of the combine; - if only I could beat thier price down a bit!

You say....what would I choose for a combine of MY choice....Well with out a doubt....a " CR 970 from NEW HOllAND " ....you said MY CHOICE ! This is one combine that is turning heads in the industry. The CAB is very spacious and very quiet compared to other 2004 models that I have rode in and I mean a lOT more quiet!. The controls are all at your fingure tips for on the go adjustment. And that's just "Some" of the many features. Yes.....with out a doubt a CR 970 would be my choice. Sorry if I have offended any one....but, that's MY choice! Merry Christmas !f19nh.... I wonder if your A SAlESMAN for NEW HOllAND.... as for my choice of a combine I got mine last christmas... a '97 Massey 8780 rotory. Its built on the KISS principle, next to nothing for daily maintence and even in the tough conditions we had here in manitoba I was very impressed for a rotor (when the case's had to shut down in wet and frozen canola the massey kept going) oh and I also like the toggle switch rotor reverse from the cab only had to use it twice this year in wet oats straw. If I never have to drive another 20 series deere that will be too soon (hate having to hunch over the d*$% steering wheel to see anything and fixing can be a nightmare),Merry Christmas To Everyone, Ed
