There is not something going on. Just had to say that. Sure the Earth may be trending warmer, research shows we have been on that track for 15,000 years. What I think that is wrong is to say that it is mankind's doing. With the exception of nuclear waste, all of our past sins are short lived and corrected by a much more powerful system that seeks equilibrium. Burn down your ditches and new grass grows. Build a fence and trees will grow in it. Produce carbon dioxide and plants will accelerate their grown to produce more oxygen. The world is a great river and all we are doing is throwing rocks into it. We can't stop its flow, only notice our momentary disturbance of it and think ourselves g ods(ps spelling mistake is intention because stupid guidelines won't allow that word). By living our lives as free people we can demand improvements and actually get them. look at the industrial growth of the old Soviet bloc from 1945 to 1990 and the current growth of countries around the world where freedom is repressed. Their pollution is truly abhorant and the people have little say. We can improve, have improved greatly since my early days of open cab spraying of chemicals, dumping oil on our gravel roads to cut dust, and moldboard plowing our fields. My children will do even better. The future is bright if you want it.

sharecropper island in alaska are disaperingIJ I own some oceon front prop. other than the normal tide water hasn't raised inch. I worked in Alaska for 15yrs so I could someday support my farming habbit. Alaska's next biggest welth is not oil it;s nateral gas of coarse the green's don't want to build another pipeline afterall maybee that pipeline might disrupt migration or kill some animal beings that the oil one failed to do so. I worked in the loging industry for half those 15yrs got real tired of the tree hugers saying that we were turning the south east Alaska rain forest (up to 200" year) into a desert then they would show comericail of south America and what they were doing saying thats what was happing in Alaska unfortanitly the American people are gulable. In Alaska instead of replanting trees after you harvest the trees you go in between 5 and 12 yrs and thin the trees because they come back so thick and fast. I think the salution might be for the tree hugers to save some trees quite using tolit paper.and start using corn cobs help out the farmer too.

aPeople believe what they want to believe. How many people would drink the water from a ditch as our grandparents didIJ Even rainwater in Europe contains glyphos which is 3 times over the acceptable limit. Many cities have smog alerts during the summer. Is that one of natures gifts also. Why did they just propose an energy plan that promises to clean up truck and large engine emissions if they dont harm usIJ

I'll be hitting the field right after lunch and be sure to take a thermos to fill up from my drainage tile. That water sure is good and cold. Progress can be a slow road, but quitting will solve nothing. Why do you seem so negativeIJ My pollution is only around for a relatively short time considering history. I drove my tractor this morning and i'll best the exhaust has already disapated and been absorbed into the system. Just 200ft south of my house there was a two story frontier house from 1860 to 1922. People lived, laughed, and loved in that house for two generations, but now no evidence of it is left. The pasture and trees make it look like the homestead never existed. The same will be true for my homestead some day. All major cities around the world are pollution hubs and have been. It happens when contaminates are built up denser than the earth can clean at that location at that moment (population density). Major urban centers like NYC produce more trash and pollution than my whole state. Yet, at the same time, it is choked full of liberals, socialists, and so-called environmentalist who want to live their lives at the fullest, but not practice what they preach.

Your very lucky. I live in the Great lakes area which I was taught to be the largest fresh water basin in the world. Too bad we cant drink it. Municipalities are running "city" water lines down almost every road and people with frontage on the road are forced to pay whether they hook up to it or not. And its not cheap....and its not wrong. Several years ago scores of people got sick and dozens died due to fram polluted water. Now all businesses that serve the public must used filtered, radiated chlorinated and whatever else they do to it. In Germany farmers can not use pesticides within several kilometers of a community well or anywhere near public buildings. Here we must soil sample and are told how much fertilzer can be used and pesticides are regulated. WhyIJ Because nature can not clean up our mess as fast as we can make it. Now we are paying for the past sins. Am I negative or a realist. It comes with age and a few too many funerals

The thing you're forgetting about this drilling in Alaska is that 1) No oil will even be taken out until 10 years. 2) The government doesnt say that the oil will come to the U.S. It will be a private company drilling and they will go to where they get the money. Also, most of the U.S. refinerys are on the east coast so the private compnay would have to go all the way down to the panama canal and than back up. The 1000 mile haul across the ocean to the west will be much easier. 3) THere isn't a significant amount up there to change prices even 1 cent.
