rob, since you seem to be up on your numbersIJ give us the facts on how much they UNDER-estimated the oil reserves of Prudhoe BayIJ Who's to say this will be no differentIJ big oil is global, and it has a strangle hold on all the political leaders. they are not gonna let go without a fight as profits are soaring in that industry. why would they be inclined to build new refineriesIJ it's the lack of refined supply that is driving the price today. there is no lack crude supply as it is higher now than ever before and adds each year. so as you mentioned, no matter how much raw crude is brought into the market, it will not drop the cost but so much. alternate sources are the way, soy, wheat, barley, potato and corn should be where 110% of the efforts in reducing fossil fuels be aimed! they are easily renewable, cleaner and the industry is already in place though not at the scale needed but the plans have been laid. with the ag sector being such a large industry already, the surge such a replacement fuel could offer would probably pay back tenfold if this where the direction politicians chose to push. but, money talks and lot's of backs are always itchy!
