You brought morals to this discussion not I.Morality is born of religion.In your post you said, "We have morals and a concience.".I don't see what either has to do with combines which are inanimate objects.

You can still have morals without religion, though. No, I don't worship combines or even nature, but I do love both. I have to be as much of a steward to the environment, too. It sure don't make me an earth-worshiper. Just take care of your combines. It's not right to destroy combines or other things--just for the heck of it.

There are old combines out there being preserved. The Historical Society I belong to has an MF 205 that is being used yearly and taken care of. last year I saw an MF35 that had been 100% restored. looked like it just rolled out of the factory. At the same show I saw a MH self propelled picker in running condition. The problem with restoring and preserving combines is that they're more expensive and difficult to restore. And hauling them to farm shows is a problem - You can't just load one on any old trailer. Did you apply for one of those History Channel grantsIJ Or know anyone who didIJ

The local historical society is looking into a grant right now. I don't know any more yet, but with several interesting and unique implements as well as 2 or 3 combines and some pickers to restore, I sure hope they get it. I'm nowhere near as interested in implements as I am the combines, but in a very special and unique way, they tell a story of early farming days and some of the tillage innovations were instrumental in post dust bowl days reclamation.

Maybe a museum would like to have my shed kept since new, 1973 4400. I doubt there are many around as nice as she is! I am mainly preserving her because all of the used machines I have looked at were either too expensive or totally worn out so I just keep the old one running.
