Combines Tell me this

Did I say that I was "mesmerized" (as you put it) by anythingIJ I don't think so. I never even indicated a preference of any kind. YOU are the one who is calling something "junk". What I DID say is that I have run both red (CaseIH),and green (Deere),also Massey, and once I was in the same field with a White machine although I never ran it, we were custom combining in the same field. I claim to be no expert (like you) on any of these machines BUT I have plenty of experience and when someone says some of the things that you said when comparing these machines....well, let's just say I know a "stretch" when I hear one. like I said before ANY machine has its good and bad points, and the best machine is the one that's not broke down. They're All junk when they're broke. If you dislike Deere so much why would you even waste your time on the Deere site if not just to cause troubleIJ Or do you feel the need to bash someone elses equipment because what you run is inferiorIJ You can't bs everyone.....like I said, some of us know better.

I agree. When it's broke down that's when it really get's considered junk. I'm not here to bash.......but I will not let someone stand here and preach like jd is the king of equipment makers, or, that they simply shelfed the bi-rotor concept because it wasn't as "good" as the sts' are. I am not, nor do I claim, to be an expert on Deere. I base my statements on what I have been told and what I have experienced just like you. Seems though that when someone comes on here and shows a bad side to deere all come to the rescue to ridicule that person and claim he's "dumb as he sounds" or "stretching the truth" When in fact he may have just experienced something you have not no matter how many hours you have put on that particular machine. OR, heard a story from someone that is in the know that you have not and you think they are "bs'ing". I run a color blind farm. I have my preferences for each designation but the one with the least dollars invested for maximum return is the winner of my ownership. Currently in the combine department that is a 9600 deere......my very reason for visiting this site in particular. You go ahead and think what you want about my "stretching" the truth Steve. I don't know you from a hole in the ground and the way you have presented yourself I could care less to meet you. Just remember, your opinions are simply that and it does not mean that you have experienced all that anyone else has. Now I am done arguing with you so go ahead and post whatever final bashing comments about me and my beliefs and experiences you want. The STS I ran was a joke for the price. Glad you have good luck with yours. The bi-rotor was a truly innovative concept and it's a shame it was shelfed but such is life and it will go on. Have a great day Deerebines

"The STS I ran was a joke for the price. Glad you have good luck with yours. The bi-rotor was a truly innovative concept and it's a shame it was shelfed but such is life and it will go on." First of all......EVERY machine built today is an absolute joke for the price! They are all overpriced as far as I'm concerned. Second of all.......I don't own an STS, right now I have a 9500, thus MY reason for being on this site. My own previous machine was an axial flow, I went to Deere mainly for service and dealer support and I can't say as I've regretted it, it's been a good machine for me. I have ran other machines as in the past I have worked for private individuals as well as custom harvestors locally.....thus my 30 years of experience. As I said before, there are pros and cons to them all. The bi-rotor design may very well have been the ultimate in harvesting......I don't know. Although it may have been tested somewhat, it probably had a long way to go to make it in the "real world".....would you agreeIJ Add in the fact that it was sold out and "shelved" and none of this talk about it really matters anyway. Deerbines, I'm not here to bash either but I, like you, call a spade a spade, and if you believe what you say to be true, so be it. I know what I have learned over the years. TruceIJ

Good reply. I would question the 9610 story, but will take your word for it. Sorry I asked if you were dumb on my first reply. That was a little mean, but I have been hearing about how good the bi-rotor is_was for a few years and was starting to get tired of it. I used Deere combines all my farming days (save for an MF Super 92),respect the company and don't think Deere would intentionally hold back a better product from us. A quick question related to this...Didn't a company out of Saskatoon build a combine with some patents Deere sold them sometime in the '80s called the "rotothrash" or something along those linesIJ Was that bi-rotor technology or a Deere design they didn't think would fly and sold offIJ
