What is you impression of the 460 that you currently runIJ Do you feel that the walkers are a drawback on the machineIJ

The walkers performance was adequate. We had bearings go out a couple of times and had to replace some of the walkers. The 460 has a tremendous appetite for corn. We have a neighbor with a Rotor and would not go back to walkers.

The accessories on the combine are usually not that important. What counts is the difference on hours and years in between the two combines. How much per separator hour would the trade cost youIJ

I would say about $15 to $25,000.00 on a trade here. Ted CenOH

Have been pricing machines like yours and with what I have seen it is very dependant on the condition and the dealer location. Assume you have a spec. rotorIJ If they are not giving you but what camaro says Email me and we can deal on your 1660. Where are you atIJ

dakota is right seedman. Dealers around here look more on the hours and the year than how the combine is equiped. Generally speaking the larger the hour difference is the less per hour it will cost to trade. Three years ago when I traded it cost me about $36.00 per hour to trade 2400 hours defference on machines. A year ago when I traded it cost me about 60.00 per hour on 1000 hours differnce on machines. Now that was on the same size machines. Your lookiing at trading for a size larger machine so it will most likely cost you even more per hour to move up to the larger machine. You'll be hard pressed to find a more dependable machine than the 2388.

I am looking at trading for either 2188 or 2388. Dealer said mine was worth about 15K on trade in. Its a 1989 1660, 5200 hours, looks better that 90% of combines that old. Still a good machine but we have out grown it and need an 8 row corn head and more capacity. We still have 240 acres of corn to go, 60 acres were replanted from May 22 tornadoes and it's flat as a pancake, damp, and wont feed in at all. (Should have got a bigger combine before harvest).

You're putting less than 200 hrs per year avg on your old combine. You might look into a 2366. It is quite a boost from a 60. A 2366 set up right will keep up with and maybe surpass a 1680. Plenty of them around here with 8 row cornheads and 25 foot platforms. And, you should be able to trade for signifigantly less. Just my $.02.

That's an interesting idea. However, in this part of the world, no such used combines exist. After the 1600 series, dealers only brought in the 2188 or 2388 machines. I've never seen a 2166, although I have seen a couple advertised. I checked the Iron Search website and found 1 2366 within 1000 miles!
