I really hate to burst your bubble but I live only 10 miles from 2 very large tractor_combine salvage yards and when I have gone their for parts for my AC_Gleaner's I see over 100 burned out Massey combines, must be a good design and atleast 75 100+ hp Massey tractors that have broken in half in the transmission case, must be another good design. Of the Gleaners there, less than ten have had fires and NONE of the AC tractor have cracked in half. AC_Gleaner has had some losers too but looking in the salvage yards Massey is the winner for Combines followed closely by JD with their up front engine design and 100+ hp tractor Bloopers.

Vermeer designed the first round baler and IH made the first commercially built no-till planter. CIH_IH has also kept the center mounted cab and rear engine also.

Yes, that is correct. And I'd also venture to argue about the no-till planter too - I think Allis was first with that too.

And if I'm wrong about the planter, I'm sure that Allis pioneered the no-till concept.

Gee, an impressive list already! I'll add a couple more.... Allis produced the first production tractor with a turbo - the D19. I THINK Allis pioneered console controls on the 190. Electrohydraulics on combines. Transverse flow cleaning fans on combines. Dual outlet cleaning fans. Gleaner was the first to use an auger conveyor in a grain head way back in the late 1920's. Gleaner pioneered the corn head. Accelerator roll cleaning system - still unmatched by competitors. Cab-forward design on the 8000 series Allis - wide, forward mounted cab that all makes use today. Wasp-waist design for better visibility - 160-220 models. Funny thing - Deere claims to have "invented" this again! Curtis Baldwin had rotary combine designs and prototypes way back in the 1930's.
