    Raising different birds together

It might depend on the breed, but I think pheasants can be tough to keep in a mixed-species flock. Some of them can be pretty aggressive and turn into bullies.

Biggest mistake you made as a newbie?

When my chickens began to molt for the first time, I was convinced they had a severe mite infestation. I probably wouldn't have been so confused had they not started molting too early, but for whatever reason, they were triggered before it was really time. I treated their "mites" religiously...

    Deterring feather pulling

I'll have to try that. I've never had an issue with feather pulling, but I bet my birds would enjoy a game of hunt the treat nonetheless.

    Pig with Swine Dysentery

Oh no! Do you know how they got it? I think it often occurs when the pigs eat contaminated fecal matter from rodents, so clear that up if you rodent problem. Muck out their area and keep it meticulously clean for a while. I hope you're able to make some headway. I wish you lots of luck!

    Tips for making popsicles

I have more luck when I mix in bits of fruit. So I dump some strawberries, peaches, blueberries, or bananas in the blender, give it a few pulses, then add it to my popsicle mix. I wouldn't say that the texture is as good as the commercial brands, but what I make is healthier.

    What are you preserving?

I'm jealous! No matter how many tomatoes I plant, we seem to eat them up as soon as they come in. Right now I'm making pickles and have taken some of the suggestions I've gotten here to heart in hopes that they'll be softer.

How To Keep Raccoon Out Of Sweet Corn

Train your dog to chase it away for a few days and it will eventually move on. Some people use an electric fence. Some encase the corn with chicken wire and bury it under the ground too to keep them from digging under. I have a small patch of corn and I used some of those devices that are...

    Pickles too crisp

I think most people must like their pickles extra crispy because every recipe I find seems to turn out pickles that you can easily snap in two. I like mine...softer? Limper? Not crunchy? I'm not sure how to describe the texture I'm after exactly, but the ones I've made aren't my favorite...

    Does Ear Clear Plus Work

No, it can't possibly work. It's a homeopathic remedy which is nothing but quack science and it's awfully expensive for a placebo. You should get that checked out by your doctor because that ringing in your ears could be an infection, injury, or circulatory problem. Just don't waste money on...
