    Politics Over The Virus

I know what happened in D.C. on the 6th was historic and should have taken front and center in the news, so I'm glad it did. But even before that, it seems the news focuses more on the election than the continuing Covid crisis. It's getting worse and no one in the media takes it as seriously as...

    The food policy

Yes, they should. The way things are going though, I don't see that happening. Spend money to help save the planet? Our politicians don't see the value in that.

    Where are my hens?

Things happen. It sounds like your neighbor didn't want to go inside your house and wanted to collect the eggs outside. So as not to be too intrusive.

How should I go about finding a farmer to work for?

Post an ad on Craig's List maybe? I believe there is a "work wanted" section. Other than that, I would say go to smaller communities and post want ads in the Post Office. Most of the one's that serve smaller communities have a board on the wall that you can tack hand written messages on.

    Good Reading Material

Can anyone recommend a good book that is set in the country? Fiction depicting rural living? I'm in the mood for a good book right now.

HVAC does it really save money. . .

If anything, it's a great way to keep the bill the same amount every month if you don't touch the thermostat. In the winter time it's best to keep the temp. just a little on the cool side and put an extra sweater on if you need to.

    Golf cart battery

Find a business that sells golf carts. If you live near senior communities (neighborhoods where you have to be 55 years old to live there) then there will be those shops nearby.

    600 or 2000

If enough people tell the Senate leaders "We're watching you", it will pass. They don't want to be voted out because they declined us more money.

Solar For The Barn, People. Let's Do This

We see solar panels on houses more and more, but what about the barn? i have cousins who run a small dairy operation in Iowa and I think solar panels would be perfect for that sort of thing. I'm trying to convince them.

    Wreaths

@More Green, a bull statue? I wonder if the resident worked in finance. If he does he just makes a middle class income from it. It wasn't in a fancy neighborhood or anything, just us working class folk.

    Wreaths

No, it was in a smallish town. There is a lot of agriculture in that area though, so that probably explains the statue. I've noticed it before but the wreath was new.

    Wreaths

Driving through a neighborhood in a small town yesterday and I saw a full size wreath draped over the nose of a bull statue that is basically a yard ornament. Maybe you could do something like that when you gals are done making them. I think it was kind of a neat thing to do.

    Community Or Neighborhood Gardens

I have always kind of wondered about this. With the differences between which seasons can grow which vegetables, germination times, etc.....do the people who are in charge of that plot of land have to dictate what gets grown?

    Fire Extinguishers for the Farm

Businesses have to have a certain amount in accordance to the square feet of the building per fire code. I don't see how that would be a bad idea for the structures on a property that a family has. Maybe there are insurance discounts for this.

    Where's The Beef?

I was hearing some commentary on the radio yesterday that was heartening. Meat prices are higher than usual, but this is temporary. For awhile, farmers had to destroy beef because the restaurants they served were not open. Processing plants were closed because of Covid-19. All of this has raised...

    Your weather

It is going to be very windy all day. And dry. Temperatures are about 5 degrees below normal. I wish there was a bit more humidity in the air, but all in it's pretty nice right now.

    How Low Can They Go?

It is not hard at all for me to find gas for $1.91 a gallon these days. I'm loving this. The prices have been dropping steadily for about 2 months now and I have to wonder, what is the lowest it is going to get? .50c?

John Deere Makes Face Shields for Healthcare Workers

They are helping others as well as themselves as they are getting good press. It's a win for everyone. I have noticed that face masks are a lot easier to get now.

    Unconvential farming ideas

The production process of the soil itself is simple enough, but how would a person do this on a large scale in order to sell it to others without an investment? I don't have that kind of money right now. It is a sector of this business that could use more exposure because it is a good...

Oregon Farm Bureau Wants Your Photos

A farmer could seek out a photographer who wants exposure that would help them get recognized in that field. I can't see the typical farmer being well-versed in the ways of photography to the point where they would submit a professional grade photograph. It's a pretty nice deal though.
