I'm an accountant (part time) and I work on our farm. I do the books, file taxes, pay our workers, etc.. I'm thankful for my Finance degree. Do you do your own or have you hired a professional?
Tis the season. I finally called today and went to see the doctor. They actually tested me for COVID-19! Ouch, it hurt a little. So I'm stuck home for a few days (good time to watch Christmas movies).
I have noticed some poop in the pantry. We set traps last night. We didn't catch anything yet. I don't set live ones, they freak me out.
What are the pros of mice?
I'm a huge sucker for Hallmark and Lifetime Christmas movies. I have at least 20 recorded. My husband is starting to get a little grumpy because there are so many. Anyone else a fan?
The next town over is having an auction next weekend. I have never been to a farm equipment auction. I'm pretty excited! I'm taking a couple of guys from my farm and the neighboring farm. What would you say would be a smart thing to buy at an auction?
I love black friday! I always buy socks and underwear for the guys in my family. They usually have jeans and flannel shirts really cheap too. I got all four of these this morning!
I now want to try to grow exotic plants! I didn't realize you could do that either. Wish me luck!! I think we will start some other veggies early in the house too. I like the idea of more vegetables!
Oh yeah, that Circle 8 workout looks really fun. I wonder how hard it is on the knees though.
I love to walk, we walk everyday. It's good for the body and the soul.
So my hubby just told me that he would really like a snowmobile for Christmas. That's not something you tell someone without giving them ones to choose from. So my brother is helping me research! Thought I'd ask here if anyone owns one? I'm thinking Polaris but that is only because it's all I know.
Is anyone else homeschooling their kids through this pandemic? If so, are you counting the things they do on the farm as part of their studies? I'd love to know what others are doing. We just switched to homeschooling because schools kept closing down.
We are decking out the porches this weekend. I can't wait! It's my favorite time of year. I would have started last week but the hubs wanted me to wait until after Thanksgiving.
We always have the family to our house. That way we don't have to leave the farm and we get to see our whole family. We are still having dinner, just not as many people this year. It is hard to do things when you own a farm.
It's almost that time of year again. Anyone have any interesting side dishes? Learn anything new this year? I'm going to try a corn casserole. I've made it a few times and it gets better each time.
Wait, you can plant things that are out of your native area? How would they grow? I mean your soil is your soil, right? Unless you're buying soil, that would make sense.
We have been thinking of making a small greenhouse to start. My problem is, I hate tomatoes that taste like they were grown in a hot house. Do greenhouse vegetables taste like the ones from our garden?
I figure whether there is a vaccine or not it will take a bit to get to all of us. I do agree with pseag on this one. Every year there are many cases of the flu. We are told that the vaccine was the wrong strain of flu.
I never thought about chickens! Are they easy to raise? About how much room...
Is anyone planning on planting more next season because of the virus? It's getting scary again out there. I'm afraid they are going to start shutting down again. We are designing new beds so we can plant more vegetables next season.
Anyone want to share a Christmas cookie recipe. Cutouts, peanut butter kisses, any kind. We are looking to try out some new recipes this season. I can't wait to see what you have.
I love the snow! It's not quite that time of year yet. We make snowmen, forts and have snowball fights. We bake cookies and drink cocoa. I also read a lot during the colder weather season.
