    Water situation

We use our well and so far we are okay. We do have large water tanks and we can get water from our town if need be. Luckily it's been pretty wet and we have been good.

How do you deal with weeds?

We pull them out before they go to seed. That's the key, before they seed. They can't spread if you get them out then. I love the tiller idea too. Maybe we will put a bit extra space between our rows next year.

    Favorite side dish for Christmas

The corn casserole sounds delicious! We make scalloped potatoes and scalloped corn! They are two of the favorites for our family. We make the scalloped potatoes a couple of times a year but the corn only at Christmas.

    Planting fall flowers

We have had our first couple of frosts so I'm thinking that it's time to plant our potted mums. We are going to try our hand in growing several to sell next year. This is a new adventure so hopefully we are successful.

    Deer hunting?

We do hunt. My wife and I hunt together. We take our deer to a processor and get sausage made. We also get hot dogs (cheddar) and breakfast sausage too. I wish I knew how to process it so I could save that cost.

Another spike in virus, planting more?

You bet we are. I think a lot of people are trying to grow their own food. If there was one thing the pandemic taught us it was this! Try to do more of the things we can control. We are also getting more cattle in. We have had a lot more interest.

    Jumbo Wrench Set Harbor Freight

I have had horrible luck with harbor freight tools. I stopped buying them. I tend to stick to Craftsman or Dewalt now. I've had great luck with both of those brands.

    Southern Trucks In The North

Craigslist is my go to for vehicles. I just put the area I am looking for and see what's available. I also have a few family membershat live in the south. They are always on the lookout.

How To Get Mice Out Of Car Vents

I would try using an air compressor with a lot of air. Try to blow them out of there. You also will blow out their nest. After they are out, put moth balls in. They hate the smell.

    Beef stew

I am trying my hand at some beef stew this weekend. I've never tried making it before. It's going to be in the high 30s this weekend so it will be a great weekend for it. What vegetables do you add to yours?

    The Coolest Coop Ever

Ooh, interesting. Of course it's just for looks. I haven't ever seen anything like those anywhere near me. I wonder what the chickens think! I bet they are the coolest chick's around.

    John Deere or Farmall

Farmall here too, they are cheaper and run great! I guess I should ask if the cost/price is comparable? Age of machinery? Of course it's a personal decision but I prefer Red!

    Apples

I went apple picking with my wife and kids. I did not know there were so many kinds of apples. Some to eat, some to bake with, some for sauce! This place had made their own hybrid apple too. What's your favorite kind and why?

    Haunting the farm

It does sound fun but I do agree that it is a lot of risk. It sounds like they won't be around the animals if they are in a barn used for storage. I'd have the town sign a waiver before I let it happen at my house/farm.

    Did you get a frost?

Nope, not yet. I hope we have another month or so before that happens. We still have a large garden full of fall and winter vegetables. My wife also has beautiful flowers.

Trump Administration Invests $4.6 Million in High-Speed Broadband in Rural Mississippi

That is pretty interesting. I think he has been doing this in many areas. Has anyone here been lucky enough to get any grant money to help out with their farming costs?

    Beef or milk cows

I'm pretty new to farming, worked on many but just bought one few years ago. My wife and I are learning so many new things. Would you say that buying beef or milk cows are easier? I would think beef because you don't have to milk them daily.

How old are the children? Do you have the internet? There are many free teaching websites that you could use. You could also buy craft kits or look up fun crafts on Pinterest. They could make things for gifts for their parents.
