Combines 2388

The 2388 has the threshing capacity to handle a 12 row head- but the weight of the head is too much for a base combine. The combines short wheelbase and lack of weight on the rear make it a tippy when alot of weight is on the front. Also, feeder house can be damaged by heavy heads.

Roster the 12 row package for a 2388 includes heavier feeder house, rear wheel drive, weight rack with weights and other beef. About the same package as a 9650 rotor with 12 row .

I don't understand why they don't make them heavy enough from the factory, like Gleaner does.

From experience in Australia I would not be putting a 1020 flex on a case. If the case takes your fancy then I would be putting a JD flex on it, they are a far more robust and better flex. There is plenty of JD flexs on cases here they just make up an adaptor for the feeder to take the JD front.

Bish makes an adapter for a JD head. I have a 1020 flex with lots of acres and it has stood up very well.

I am not sure what you are harvesting, but if you are harvesting wheat, that sounds like a good day's run. I harvest over a wide area and some places where I harvest I can do that easily and some place, in bad conditions, it is hard to get half that many acres in a day.

I bet it wasn't in SUNlIN wheat. We were in Sunlin wheat yielding 6 up to 7 tonnes per hectre and no-one was moving fast (3 to 4 ks per hour)P.S. Harvesting Sunlin is like trying to thresh gravel sitting on top of fence wire. john

no i don't believe the crop was quite that good, more on the lines of about 1-2 tonne to the acre, but we have had the 2388 in a crop of 7 to 8 tonne to the acre and as yours it wasn't quite the fastest machine in the world.
