The reason I need to sacrafice the first articulation joint, is because I want gps steering. I have been prodding them since early 2002, Had some nice techs on this site even start me down the right track trying to decipher this thing, tractor is kind of half right to do, but knowing were code comes from, what pulse width valve is on the front, and knowing who CNH sided up for steering too many problems to iron out before they will ever get it to work. I looked into trading for non-accusteer version this year and was shocked at local dealer, look back at my option spec sheet and noticed I had priced trading with JD back in June of 2002, because I knew steering was possible for them, but since I had the friend that kept saying wait it possible on yours I kept being patient, will I think it is a pipe dream for the current mfg to achieve w_o redesigning a few things and knowing CNH mine will not be covered because it is too old.

Hows about just taking a couple pieces of angle iron the right length and making some cylinder stops! Hold em on with heavy hose clamps. A hyd shop I worked at used to do that quite often for stroke control. After that I'd plug off the hoses so you weren't pressurizing the cylinders every time you try to turn. Chads

O.K. Here's a stupid question, and remember I don't know a whole hell of a lot about your problems. But wouldn't the accusteer work better using the rowcrop steering, anywayIJ I guess you're having trouble with the tractor "crabbing" doing row crop workIJ Chads

chads--------cover plates make since, but on the other hand with a stripper header you shouldn't need much threashing just seperating, but in some fields the whole head came through the machine instead of just grain. we had some neck blast in areas and it would just snap the whole head off. oh well so much for 04 harvest and 8010 problems, this is 05 and the 8010 is leaving tomorrow and it needs to dry up so we can get started on a new set of problems. hope to get in fields in march because april is so busy planting snap green beans, sweet corn, rice, milo, group 3 and 4 beans, i feel like were already behind just thinking about it. by the way were in central arkansas what part of the country are you fromIJ

Sounds like a genuine CNH fix, did you used to be their head engineer.

wont a gps steering arrangement that steers the actual steering wheel allow gps steering and accusteer to both work and is simple to install and operate eg trimble ez-steer avaiable in aus.

I'm in central MO. It's so dang wet here I can't get too excited about anything. Had to repair some feedlot fence yesterday, and it's so muddy you can't tamp the dirt back in the holes. Just dumped in two bags of quick crete and stomped the mud over the top. By the way, whole heads coming through is EXACTlY what you would need cover plates for. Yes it is the only one that would work potentially with the double articulation. However two potential problems, First and foremost the rear articulation joint is controlled to lock up in a centered position by directional control valves in (what they call the make-up valve section). Will this is all fine and dandy but upon use by me and others in the area the accuracy of this portion is very loose. Easily .75" difference in measurement of the rear cylinders from how they lock up. So this is why I said like following one of those extra long pipe hauling trucks. Supposedly they may release new cylinders with a different potentiometer. So I would argue any 3pt mounted implement may want to pull to either direction uncontrolably due to one rear art cylinder being longer than the other. For most accuracy in spacing the receiver would need to be mounted on the back to take out this difference in rear articulation lock up. Which would work with the ez-steer OK, since it would only be driving the front art. 10 degree portion. Only other concern I would potentially see is the front art. joint which is controlled by the optical encoder and delivered to the pulse width modulated valve is the fact that it is speed sensitive. May or may not have any effect on the ez-steer trying to compensate, looks like it would not be too hard to dummy signal the input into the tractors computer so that it thinks it is going a constant or stable speed. Do you have an ez-steer, satisfied with performance on row crop, hows the line accusitionIJ
