I first drove a JD55 with a 12 ft. head in wheat and heat. I think it was a 1949 model, but, I can't be sure about that. I do remember when dad got a 1953 55 then added a 54. They both had 14 ft. heads. The 54 had a fold up unloading auger. The 53 had to be taken off and hauled in the truck if you went down a narrow road or put it in the shed.

as a young lad in nebraska,I remember uncle Charlie's 55,105,4400 and our old reliable seed wheat machine,a Oliver model 47 with a 12 ft finger reel. then a 6600,6620. and then on a harvest crew 9610's and now 9650 sts. what changes and we have only begun. how big will they getIJIJIJIJIJIJIJIJIJIJIJIJIJ

My first is a 55 with 343 head. I bought a 4400 D this year. I'll sell the 55 after 2001 harvest.
