Combines Why is John Deere letting their competiton get bigger combines out while they nothingIJIJIJIJIJIJIJ

Yep, I agree, both companies have made some good and bad machines. If you have no Deere and no intention of owning own and don't like them they why post over here-or even bother reading. Do you simply come to the Deere forum to bash them any people who have a different opinion or dealer experience than yourselfIJ Not sure I really see the point-seems like a waste of time.

I like reading about other farmers and how there experiences are with combines.... this all started with a guy made because his company isn't listening to what he and many people want from them. Some people have mad good points in that 80% of the farmers don't need a Class 8-9 combine And deere is just staying with the smaller sizes but they should atleast make one cause i see that market becomeing large the same guy who doesn't need that might decide it would be better to own one large combine instead of 2 small ones plus its hard to find good help...Im sure we all know that I just hope deere will listen to this guy and kinda see where the market is going and accomidate them it would take much to make the deere people happy..JUST ADD SOME clean grain capacity in that big boy you guys make Also i don't think ive bashed anyone i did apologize to one guy cause my statement came out wrong or i later realized i could have typed it up better.. Have a good harvest...

Most will not admit why they are so loyal to Deere, but when it comes right down to it, it certainly isn't the products and services themselves that keeps the customers coming back, its the price!!! I have heard so many times farmers say how much they dislike their Deere product(s) and service, but yet they keep going back because Deere makes it so easy to trade for another one that they can't afford not to take it. Deere has no interest in you "owning" their products (most of the time it's all about the payments) as much as they do getting them on to your farm (% market share for Deere).

Case farmer, you mentioned that the market for big machines will become large, just how large do you think it will it getIJ From my view point, and with some of the comments about transport of large machines on the custom circut, I have a hard time seeing it as that large of a market segment. The way I see it, the majors players are either going to make (a guess on numbers) maybe 1000 large machines or 2000 almost as big machines. Either way, each maker is going to determine the profit they want to make and adjust the margin to make the same amount of money on the total machines they make. Your thoughtsIJ

Well With the big guys getting bigger and the middle guys haveing issues with getting help and likeing the idea of running just one combine and being able to find any easy help to run the grain cart and semi's then that might become more possible And the transport thing....im sure they will or might already make trailors to transport these combines lower to the ground im sure there are some issues with height but im sure they will solve that easily enuff I don't see it possible to get over a class 9 but im sure my dad thought at too back in his day I mean overall weight will keep them from getting bigger id feel sorry in a muddy year for anyone with a class 8-9 combine I guess the one thing about deere that i hear from green guys and i find aggrivating if i was one... Is they don't up there clean grain capacity But then again the 2388 becomes a 2588 and they are changing some good things but the guy at the farm progress show braged about the Slip clutch on the clean grain eleveator was 20% Stronger we asked...so what did you doIJIJ Put a washer under the spring!!!!! That means two things to me, one: nobody ever has been able to fill the elevator before now(!),or two: the clutch was a sorry excuse to begin with. I would believe the first one never was a problem.. gs

last time I bought anything new was in 1997, and it wasn't because of price. Selling dealer was 15 miles away, and had service case only dreams about. I have some case equipment, and have found this to be true at least for me. Maybe different somewhere else, but that doesn't help my situation any. You are wrong in assuming there is a "loyalty" issue here, it is a service_dealer support issue. I couldn't care less what color the machinery is as long as it runs and has support when it breaks, and it all will. gs

That reduced overall transport height, weight and cost when compared to hauling on a combine trailer. It seems that this is a feasible option, but perhaps shelved by JD since '95. (Re: US Patent 5601303) Combines can gain significant graintank capacity via articulated models (graintank on back half) which have been tested for years now. This lowers overall height, CG and improves stability. The recent IVT magazine cover included an artist rendition for grins. Re: I'd feel sorry in a muddy year for anyone with a class 8-9 combine My comments .02: I've noticed that soft ground problems are less of a problem in our controlled traffic areas and with no-till. Also duals, or better yet half tracks and large rear tires let us keep rolling yesterday soon after the weekend of rain.

Case worked on the concept of using a grain cart towed behind the machine and kept a smaller transfer tank on the combine. Seemed like a good concept, maybe a little ahead of its time. Even had a sensor actuated hitch with a seperate power source for driving the wheels and a turing axle. Worked pretty good except on side hills. I would think that would be a key to growint the capacity of the combine. I don't know how that would work with tracks though.

Yeah no till does make a big difference thats for sure.. But i wouldn't be surprised if overall most are still conventional
