So, it sounds like your major issues are with the Government, not the farmers. And, it sounds like IF you lived in the US, you would take the subsidies and be able to walk down the street and look people in the face. So why would you write such a degrading, mean spirited comment in the first placeIJ Since I work in an industry that is completely unsubsidised, couldn't I say the same thing about you for taking the fuel tax kickbackIJ I'm not going to argue against free trade, but with the political system we have, doing the right thing seems to rarely happen. I think farmers everywhere would like to get the Goverment out of farming.

I can just imagine that if any of the top executives of the (3) big grain trading companies were reading all of the previous posts , they would just be leaning back in their big comfy office chair, and just silently smiling and smiling!

I agree with you completely CORNKING If the farmer has a little money in his pocket he will spend it as fast he gets it.

look guys I am truly sorry I did not mean for this to get so out of hand. I also want to say in my humble opinion everything is relative. I think the price of farm ground, land rent, and inputs are all tied to these payments. If for some reason the goverment decided to pull the plug I feel that the market would level out inputs and land values would adjust accordingly. I will say this, one of the posts below mentioned that a dollar from agriculture will get spent real quick this is true and that is what our economy needs. Also we as farmers create "New Wealth" every year this is a huge benefit for the economy we are not wage earners (I in no way mean that a person who is a wage earner is any less important then us as farmers) making "recyled" money we create new money every year. Once again I am sorry if I offened anyone that was not my intention when I posted this link.

Afganistan and Iraq were two completely different issues. Bush just the "terrorism" line to get the backing to finish off "Daddys War". If Bush is so serious about tyrants and demorcracy why won't he go to Zimbarbwie and get rid of McGarbyIJ....simple OIl.

You guys have got to be kidding me. Subsidies are only killing the small farmer. Its an unfair advantage and those who do not know how to use the system get payments or the ones that refuse to lose. If we did not have these benifits nothing would be affected, for example if the goverment would give more money, then farmers would just figure that in as a way to pay higher rent. Its like another said on here farmers have to hold the world in their hands, but all of us will stab the other in the back for a few dollars. just my 2 cents

No I wouldn't, because I was not brought up in such a culture. The government policy is driven by the farmers on this issue. Bush would love any excuse to scrap the program, particularly given your ever ballooning debt, but he knows there would be such a cry go up politically it would be suicide to do so. 2% of 250 million people is still a lot of votes.
