Around here I'm afraid land prices would remain high anyway due to hunting and development, and we're in the heart of farm country. I don't see my landlords backing their cash rent off a dime with less subsidies, because I have neighbors (guess we call them competitors these days) that are so desperate to flow the cash and get larger that they'll pay the same rent I am now, or higher, even without subsidies. They may go broke 5 years down the road, but by then "sensible" farmers will already be out of business for lack of land.

these like some other gov programs started with good intentions as a saftey net for prices but as anyone knows it only takes a while for the industry to minipulate the program to their benefit as in the lDP gov gives .50 the mills or buyers take .49 by dropping price an giving excuses its simple I see it now with the hurricane construction it was costing $100 a square to roof house before katrina and Rita now it's running $150-$200 a square they know you need it an now there's insurance same formula in ag, buyers know you need price an if the gov comes in an drops a few dimes then the buyers take two an give you maybe one, an no there's no shinny equipment on this farm 2188 just finished it's ninth harvest,an the tractors are older just patch an keep them in shape, good luck to all here in 06 we'll need it!!!!!

You talk about hunters, once again basically the government practically funds that. If you dont believe me one word CRP in my opinion the biggest sham of all. Actually paying a person not to farm makes worthless land valuable. land that the indians didnt even want now us farmers can get a nice big check for. Also we can get checks to promote wildlife, for an animal that cant keep outta the way of vehicles, but maybe if we can get more they will figure it out or something. But thats another story.

You don't have to go out of business. IF everyone would stop using fertilizer corn would soon be $10 a bushel with alot less input costs and the big 3 ag company officials would be doing the sweating then. The trouble is that farmers are TOO competitive and must get better yields than his neighbour so on goes the fertilizer. Can you imagine a factory worker making a few extra parts during his break to increase production....farmers do it all the time. This extra production is what drives down prices.

When Bill did take some military action all you Neo-nuts jumped all over him and said he was trying to take attention off the lewinsky Scandal. You Neo-cons are real good at pointing fingers but never take any responsiblily yourself. Just remeber every time you point a finger theres three pointing back at you!

No fertilizer means not that good of crop rightIJ Which would make it hard to pay for everything now days considering the cost of it all
