    Downsizing May Be Better

There is a story about a commercial pig farm who may have to euthanize hundreds of weight ready pigs because the processing plant that takes them is closed down. And that the grocery store a hundred miles away is out of pork. With the commercialization of this process that leads to larger and...

    Apps that help

Simplot Advisor works on Apple products. I'm still old fashioned and use paper, spreadsheets, etc... If anything, register with Farmers Almanac. I don't know if they have an app though.

When did you decide to turn your farm into a business?

Most of us here started small I think. When things get to the point where you can get tax breaks by forming an LLC, that's when it became a business.

    Insurance Excess

Is "excess" another word for deductible? If it is then you probably chose that deductible yourself, right? If I were you I would ask your insurance agent this question, or ask here if there are any agents who could.

    City To Country

Real estate developers are the one's responsible for what we call suburbs, and they need to start building houses on larger lots, like an acre, when they develop these new suburbs. Call it "Developed (or planned) Social Distancing". Do that, and people won't have to move to the country.

    Do you process at home?

We have other people do all that for us and put that job in our budget. We all have our skill sets and this isn't one of ours.

    Who Cares About Us?

I haven't heard anyone talk about it recently. Even with the effects that this virus has had with processing plants. Not to sound like a Negative Ned, but I have no hope that any presidential contender in the future is going to care about ag. issues.

    Motor Oil In Hydraulic System

I would flush it all out. Machines can be fickle about mixing fluids like that. If anything, you'll be losing some of your hydrolic...............capabilities?

    Killing Groundhogs With Bubble Gum

Never heard of that. Is the logic that the gum does not digest in their system? Maybe? I've never had a groundhog problem so I have never had to look into it.

    Farming Collectables

Does anyone here collect farming themed knick-knacks or something even bigger. There's a guy that doesn't live too far from me who has two vintage tractors "posed" in his front yard. It looks pretty cool.

    What Is It About Cabbage?

My lady does that, and at first I didn't know what she was doing. ? But the heavy feeding might have something to do with how long it takes to mature. A good 5-10-5 mixture and/or aged manure and heavy watering should do just fine.

    Farming Fictions

Lightning in the southern skies means dry weather will stay. There is a certain truth to that......it's called dry lightning and it is a thing in the southwest.

    Electricity For The Home

I just thought I would share a site (Which I have no affiliation with whatsoever) That is the most informative I have ever seen on a basic level. I think it's important to know as much about your house and other buildings as you can. Let me know what you think...

    Proper maintenance of machinery

I'm pretty much the same. If something sounds or feels not quite right, I visually inspect, look at the maintenance schedule then do another check.

    Farm Animals for Business Meetings?

If you're in the milk industry, bring a cow. If you're having a meeting dealing with stocks, bring a bull. (Heavily sedated of course, and a bear would be a bit much) A video "Happy Hour"? Maybe a monkey. A meeting discussing the political side of this virus......bring a jackass because you...

How does the quarantine thing affect you?

Work and home life are the same as always. It is effecting me psychologically though because I can't help but worry for the country. The only people who seem to know what they're doing and talking about are the scientists and medical professionals. The problem is, they're not in charge.

    More Gardeners?

I'm thinking that with COVID 19 gripping so many places so hard, the rise of backyard gardeners is sure to rise. It's a good way to get outside, do a little work and take your mind off your problems. I highly recommend it.

    Jb 80 Vs Wd 40

They both do the same thing, so I don't know why I would apply JB to something I wouldn't apply WD to. I grew up with WD 40 and since it always does it's job, that what I buy.

Secretary Perdue Statement on Coronavirus Rescue Package

They seem to have been earmarking monies for broadband for quite some time now. That does help with the infrastructure and the communications between people, but I never knew it was so lacking until recently.

Do you know about Gac fruit? It's the weird fruit.

I have never heard of it before now, thanks for sharing the video. Sounds healthy. I couldn't quite make out what it tastes like though.
